It’s always fun when figures of pop culture run along side Scooby-Doo and Co. The Mystery Machine gang have run into the likes of: KISS, The Harlem Globetrotters, John Cena, The Superfriends and many others (see complete list HERE).  In a long line of cameo/crossovers, comes an announcement of a NEW team-up, and one that hasn’t left fans this excited since sending Scrappy Doo behind bars (gawd, what an annoying character!). It was revealed that Scooby and the gang will crossover with another team of supernatural hunters next season (Yes, that pun was intended!). The Brothers Winchester, Sam and Dean, from CW’s Supernatural will be teaming-up Freddy, Velma, Shaggy, Daphne and Scooby-Doo for an adventure like no other.  (more…)

There’s only one show on the CW that’s been around long enough to remember when it was called the WB, and that’s Supernatural. The series follows two monster hunting brothers who battle ghosts, vampires, demons and angels in their predestined quest to keep the world safe, and they’re about to go into season 12 of that almost now literal never-ending battle. Even Mark Pedowitz, president of the CW, has said that it’s likely that Supernatural will outlive his tenure at the network. It appears that the series stars agree with him, at least in part, because in a recent interview both Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles said they could easily see the series going all the way to episode #300. Sam and Dean argue and make a deal with Crowley just like old times. Fans see the return of a couple old friends. Castifer decides to take a stroll through heaven to recruit helpers. Tonight’s episode finally headed toward ways to defeat Amara, but the guys quickly learn that it won’t be the way they expected. If you aren’t caught up on season 11, stop reading. Otherwise there are spoilers ahead. 5…4…3…2…1.

It may have been a bit anticlimactic considering that The CW announced that Being Human showrunner Jeremy Carver would be replace Sera Gamble at the head of Supernatural‘s writers room last month, but the netlet made it official today when Supernatural was announced as one of three shows it was renewing for the 2012-13 season.

Supernatural, which stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as the demon-hunting Winchester Brothers, premiered on the now defunct WB in 2005. This renewal guarantees, at least, an eighth season for the show. Anything after that will depend on ratings, and if Padalecki and Ackles can be persuaded to stick around, they’re own contracts run out at the end of next season.

Now I’m afraid I don’t watch Supernatural, so I can’t speak intelligently about the show. I do know that it was a pretty substantial and vocal fan base, so this is excellent news for them, unless they’re of the opinion that the show should have ended two seasons ago and that season 7 Supernatural isn’t as good as season 3 Supernatural.

And for the record, the other two shows renewed by The CW are 90210 and The Vampire Diaries.
