Kyle MacLachlan

Frank Herbert’s Dune has been one of the most influential science fiction novels of the past century. It has inspired, created, and been homaged in more forms than one can count. Dune is a story that finds its way into most all sects of nerd-dom This can include spawning the most iconic worms in the world, to feeding meme culture, to inspiring films and video games. Even today, games like Enter the Gungeon make spice a usable in-game item, and shows like Futurama utilize sand worms to travel across desert planets. Truly, spice has become life. In its own, special way, of course.  (more…)

New ‘S.H.I.E.L.D.’ Promo: Skye is Feeling… Inhuman

agents_skye_quake

When we last left Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D Well, how do we put this, $#!% was going down! It’s been a long break between episodes and the show left us hanging at such a momentous point, the introduction of the Inhumans. Now, there’s an Inhumans movie on the way, coming soon to a theater near us… In four years. But S.H.I.E.L.D. made a huge leap in continuity relevance by introducing such an essential piece of lore for the development of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. (You know, because they can’t use the ‘M’ word.) With a little over a week till the return of S.H.I.E.L.D., ABC is now teasing what fate awaits one of the show’s key characters now that what’s Inhuman has been unleashed. (more…)

Dale Cooper Suits Up for ‘Twin Peaks’ Sequel Series

dale-cooper-twin-peaks-finale

It’s pretty rare for an actor to catch up with a character 25 years after the fact, but it seems like Kyle MacLachlan is game for some more Twin Peaks, and has signed on the dotted line to take part in the 9-part continuation of the series. MacLachlan is the first of the original cast to sign-up for the new season, which will begin shooting sometime later this year, but according to the powers that be, it’s unlikely that he will be the last. MacLachlan was the star of the original Twin Peaks, which ran on ABC for two season in 1991 and 1992, and given where the series left his character, FBI Agent Dale Cooper, I have no idea where this will lead us. But I have a definite feeling it will be a place both wonderful and strange. (more…)

You can read out recap of last night’s monumentous Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. midseason finale here, but before you go there’s at least one detail we must discuss in full. First though, who would have guessed that this time last year S.H.I.E.L.D. would leave us on the edge our seat like that? The fights! The reveals! The potentially game changing consequences! What a rush! Having eight weeks of Agent Carter crammed in between now and more S.H.I.E.L.D. almost seems like a punishment now (no matter how much you may or may not be looking forward to Agent Carter). Haven’t seen the episode yet? Avert your eyes because we’re about to confirm that Skye is indeed the specific Marvel character she was revealed to be last night…. (more…)

There have been rumors, and rumors of rumors for days now, but now it’s been confirmed, Twin Peaks is coming back to TV. The announcement was made official today by series co-creator David Lynch, who will return to run the new series with Mark Frost for a nine-episode continuation of Twin Peaks, which will premiere in 2016 on the cable channel Showcase. Not many details are known yet in terms of storylines or original actors returning, but as the prototypical cult series of the 90s, the return of Twin Peaks and its town full of quirky characters, there will be more than a few people today raising a damn fine cup of coffee and a damn good slice of pie to new episodes of one of the all time greats.
