Thanks to Netflix, a new generation of fans are being brought into the world of Voltron (with the release of Voltron Legendary Defenders Season 3 just dropping this morning!). Back in the 1980s, kids could play with a special die-cast set of all the tigers and combine them into a tall Voltron set. It was cool, but it was also very expensive so few kids had them and they are highly collectible now. With so many new toys hitting the market, it’s time for a new Voltron set anyone can afford and play with, so LEGO has come to the rescue by approving a fanmade set of the legendary hero!
Okay, so it’s probably not the new Star Wars trailer you’d like to see (Rogue One anyone?), but a sneak peak trailer for LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens has been leaked, and if you’re still in love with the seventh Star Wars movie, then you’re definitely going to love this. Copying some of the scenes portrayed in the movie’s trailers, the game looks like it will give fans the change to play as Finn, Rey, Poe Dameron and all your favorites from The Force Awakens, plus it will apparently fill in some of the blanks from the time period between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens. Interested yet? (more…)
Toys and play-sets from mega movie properties will see the films core characters and battle scenes make it to plastic form, obviously. One thing toy tie-ins often also do… is spoil a movie surprise. Toys are made and released months ahead of a film premiere; with the purpose of getting toys in the hands of kids (and collectors) to market the movie. So that being the case, there’s really no avoiding it. Still, that doesn’t make it any easier when you’re perusing the aisle of a toy store, see some toy set that catches your eye… and boom… spoiler!
Such as the case with Marvel’s latest super hero mega fest – Captain America Civil War. An upcoming LEGO set depicts a truly transformative reveal… and here we are complaining about spoilers, but sometimes we just can’t help ourselves. So click away to check it out if you just have to know before hand. (more…)
Dear Santa, if you’re reading this, then I’ve finally figured out what I want for the holidays. I want the new LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse. I know it won’t be available until January, but can you please work your magic and get it to me early? I promise to be good to my parents and I won’t hit my siblings ever again. To sweeten the deal, I’ve even left you a plate of cookies and a glass of milk on the table. I got a little hungry, though, so don’t mind the cookie with a bite in it. Thanks a lot.
It’s a good thing that the Tardis is much bigger on the inside! While Steven Moffat has made it clear that there are no plans for a Doctor Who film, director Rob Schrab has teased that The Doctor may be landing in 2018’s The Lego Movie Sequel! Hints were dropped by Schrab on Harmontown Podcast (via io9), where he divulged that talks between Warner Bros. and the BBC were already underway concerning the Doctor’s appearance in the next Lego Movie. The Doctor is no stranger to changing forms- shifting into a Lego shouldn’t be that hard, right? (more…)
This is sure to be filling the stockings of a lot of Doctor Who fans this Christmas. The BBC and LEGO have finally gotten together for a Doctor Who LEGO set. There are more to follow, because I imagine the sales from this first set should send dump truck loads of money at the set. You can check it out below. (more…)
Netflix continues its march toward more original programming as the streaming company took to the Twitterverse and announced their intention to bring two new original material LEGO programs for Kids in 2016. While there’s no confirmed titles or information on which LEGO properties these programs might delve into, we can make a few educated guesses based on the picture tweeted. (more…)
Most people aren’t enamored with the concept of documentaries. The premise of spending 1-2 hours watching a program under the guise of educational exploration is lost on those who’d rather have their entertainment be anything but. It’s true, there is a time for learning and there is a time for entertainment. A good documentary, however, does both. A good documentary will hook you with a prospective topic – something you’re mildly curious about or something you never knew you’d be interested in – and takes you on an enlightening journey that expands your mind, all whilst leaving you feel entertained. No one truly likes spending time learning stuff, but everyone does like feeling like the smartest guy/girl in the room. A good documentary leaves you feeling smarter and more informed, with the least amount of effort from you as possible.
The following entries make up some of the best, fascinating, and nerd approved documentaries that you can watch right now on Netflix. So sit back, relax, and be prepared to learn some shit via your Television or streaming mobile device. (more…)
Just when you thought LEGO Dimensions couldn’t get any better, it just did. If you’re unfamiliar with LD, it is a new upcoming game peripheral in the same style of Disney Infinity and Skylanders, with a unique docking station and an assortment of figurines that allow you to play different worlds and areas of the game. Only LEGO Dimension is better because the base and figures are LEGO pieces that you build. Oh, and the not so little premise of featuring pop culture characters from various genres like Back to The Future, Batman, Lord of The Rings, and Doctor Who. You can also take any character into any world. Yes! In your face Disney Infinity!
Still not convinced? Well there’s another game expansion that should interest you. At least if bustin’ Ghosts makes you feel good, that is. (more…)
Comic Con has games? Clearly you’re new here, but yes, there is a strong video game presence at San Diego Comic Con, and like all things in movies, comics and TV, SDCC marks a pretty big date on the calender for video game companies looking to get some promo for their new products. To wit, let’s talk LEGO. We all love LEGO, it, and everything about it, is awesome! But are you looking for something new in gaming that can tie together all your favorite licensed LEGO characters, characters created for The LEGO Movie, and Doctor Who? Good news, because here’s the trailer for the new LEGO Dimensions game. (more…)
