It’s been argued that you can piece together the entire plot of Prometheus simply by watching the trailers. That’s only half true. On the one hand it’s most certainly a kind of love letter to Alien, another story of a group of people who go searching in space and find something terrifying. But on the other it’s a surprisingly complex sci-fi drama teeming with ambition and big ideas that, while sometimes a little overstuffed, packs plenty of rewards if you’re willing to follow where it leads.
Has anyone checked on Ridley Scott? I am getting worried, it’s been a couple of days since he’s released any footage from next months Prometheus. With the heavy amount of marketing getting pumped out for the flick (i.e. releasing the whole damn thing in 2 minute chunks) maybe he’s finally shown us the whole thing?
Nope. Two more clips have hit the net, and yes they contain the typical mix of stuff we’ve seen already with small snippets of new stuff, and interviews and behind the scenes. You know the deal.
After the jump, you can watch a follow-up to the Charlize Theron clip from a few days ago where Logan Marshall Green introduces us to his character Charlie Holloway and then a more Scott talks is vision of Prometheus and states his mission plan to make you soil your pants.
Yes, they are a bit spoilery, but I don’t care. This movie is going to be awesome. (I know, since I have seen most of it already).

We are a couple months away from the premier of Prometheus, the newest Sci-Fi film by Ridley Scott. The film looks like – and has been assumed to be – a prequel to Scott’s Alien franchise, but it (apparently) has little, or nothing to do, with Xenomorph mythos. It’s (supposedly) just another Sci-Fi thriller with H.R. Giger inspired surrealism. On topic of the visual style, we have 16 new high resolution images to gawk at.
You can pleasure yourself to the recently released trailers if you like, but I think these images really allow you to appreciate the fetishistic sexual imagery that Scott is presenting. The behind-the-scene images are fun too. The pic of a lone Ridley Scott is pin-up calendar worthy.

While most of us were still waiting patiently over at the most popular spot on the web this week, Apple Trailers, it seems somehow the official trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Alien prequel, Prometheus has leaked early. Okay, so the trailer has leaked before, but that was in terrible, butt-vision quality. This video isn’t in HD but it sure looks great. Give it a watch below before it’s gone. I have no idea if they’ll pull these videos once the trailer officially goes live at Apple, but we’ll update if they do.
Whatcha think? Was it worth watching a bunch of countdown teasers videos? To be honest, I had to watch it twice because my eye kept being distracted by the slow formation of the Prometheus title. It was a neat effect, but distracting. Am I the only one who had this issue?
It defintely has a perfectly creepy vibe, though, and I love it. Alien is my favorite of that franchise because it’s more a horror story than an action one. Don’t get me wrong, I freakin’ love Sigourney Weaver kickin’ all that ass, but Alien is frightening as hell. And remember, in space no one can hear you scream.
I get much of that same vibe from Prometheus. And I’m stoked. If there’s one guy who can breathe new life into this franchise, it’s Ridley Scott.
[UPDATE: Guess what!? The trailer has now officially been released on Apple Trailers in glorious HD. Feast your eyeballs!]
Ridley Scott, director of “Alien” and “Blade Runner,” returns to the genre he helped define. With PROMETHEUS, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.

Incoming message from the big giant head! Yep… that was reference to Third Rock From The Sun, a show I very seldom get to reference anymore. I thank the new teaser poster for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus for reminding of that 90’s sitcom gold. The movie has no connection to the show (that I know of) other than the fact that the poster features a big giant head. The poster actually looks like a vague reference to the one-sheet for Alien (hit the jump for reference). It’s basically the Alien poster with a giant stone face floating above.
We’ve been told by Ridley Scott that Prometheus has no connection to his aliens films, but clearly the old fuck has been pulling our chains. It is obviously a prequel to Alien. It explains the creation and purpose of the xenomorphs. He’s not fooling anybody. Unless, of course,…this is actually a sequel to Blade Runner and he completely mind fucked us.
