The Marvel Cinematic Universe has become a force to be reckoned with. Marvel Studios has managed to bring in billions of dollars in box office receipts with their very well produced movies. On the television side of things, Marvel has had a bit of staggered success. While their network television series’, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, have received rather lukewarm ratings, Marvel’s first Netflix series, Daredevil, earned some well-deserved high praise from both viewers and critics alike. The next Marvel Netflix series to which viewers will be treated is the upcoming Jessica Jones, which stars Breaking Bad’s Krysten Ritter in the title role. Netflix has just released the first official images from the series and while there may not be much action in the shots, the look and tone of the series shines through brilliantly. Take a look at the gallery below, which features the main characters of the series. (more…)
It’s that time again, time to get excited about the beginning of another Marvel Netflix series. With Jessica Jones set to debut in November, and Daredevil now filming season two, it looks like Luke Cage is about to start his mission to make the streets safer on the series of the same name. How do we know? Well, the series has a soft release date of 2016 for one thing, but more tellingly, it looks like the cast is starting to shape up. Marvel Studios has announced four new actors cast for Cage, including one who looks like she may end up being the Nick Fury of Marvel’s street level heroes. (more…)

There’s a lot of talent in this cast and Whaley’s addition continues the trend. What role might Whaley be playing? (more…)

In addition to featuring the character of Jessica Jones, a former superheroine turned private investigator, it will also feature the debut of superhero Luke Cage, who will then go on to star in his own Netflix series. While the Luke Cage Netflix series will be premiering sometime in 2016, casting is now well underway. Villains and heroes are now taking shape.
It is known that Mike Colter (The Good Wife) will play Luke Cage, while Oscar-nominee Alfre Woodard is reportedly onboard – and now, more familiar TV actors have just joined the hard-bitten series. (more…)
Oh the Internet is always coming up with ways to find out what’s what. A Reddit user, UnbreakablJimmySmits, recently found out that if he added a number to the URL for the upcoming Netflix/Marvel Jessica Jones series, http://www.netflix.com/title/80002311, then suddenly there are all the episode titles for the first season. Of course Netflix is getting everything loaded up and it looks like everything is ready for Netflix to flip that switch and turn on Jessica Jones. Do you wanna know what the titles are?
Oh yeah… SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT!!!! Do not pass go and collect $200 if you’re saving yourself for the binge weekend and don’t want to know anything else about Jessica Jones.
The Marvel Comic Universe features a plethora of characters – some that would translate well off the colored pages and onto a movie or TV screen, and some that wouldn’t. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently plugging away at full steam, and after a rocky start with the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Marvel’s TV offerings seem to be hitting their stride as well. Of course, both the film and television productions are all part of the larger MCU, which begs the simple-sounding yet very-convoluted questions: what characters will be added, and how? (more…)
