Mash-ups

guardians-of-galaxy-vs-star-wars

The Internet loves mash-ups and homages. For every couple of thousand we’re forced to endure through the social media shares of our friends, there are one or two that stand head and shoulders above the others and show us what a Mash-up could, and should be. This Star Wars/Guardians of the Galaxy Trailer is one of those fabulous few. (more…)

East Wood & Aliens!

Here is a hilarious mashup of Clint Eastwood movies, Cowboys & Aliens and Aliens from CollegeHumor. Unlike Jon Favreau’s upcoming flick, which doesn’t interest me,  I would probably actually pay money to see this.

Check it out below and see for yourself why Eastwood is the ultimate bad ass.

SHEEN WARS- A Charlie Sheen Darth Vader Mashup

SheenWars

Are you tired of Charlie Sheen yet? Well I’m certainly fucking not. His show, Two and a Half Men, is shut down for the season. His kids have been taken away. All as a result of his bat-shit crazy out bursts and of course he’s substance abuse problems. He’s an ‘effing mess! I’m just going to put this out there, he looks like… Skeletor and older than his dad! You could house a large baby in his nostril. Suffice to say, I love this man! Who could resist a man with “tiger blood,” ”Adonis DNA” and “fire-breathing fists”?

So, as you know (from one of the many quotes above) Mr. Sheen has practically invented a new language with his rants and ramblings. It’s become a bit of a media phenomenon. His musing and misdemeanors are everywhere. And now, they’ve made into Star Wars.

Ladies and gentleman allow me to introduce to you a video mash-up entitled “Sheen Wars”. Mashing up Charlie Sheen’s recent rant and Darth Vader. It’s pretty much what the internet was made for. It was clearly created by fools and trolls and meant for Gnarly Gnarlingtons.

~Enjoy

StarWarsXmenmash

(article by nerdbastards contributor Sarah Moran @SarahThisIs)

We shouldn’t really be surprised if we see a lot more X-Men: First Class mash-ups in the days to come. It’s the biggest trend in home editing! With every new trailer released we ask ourselves, what other franchise can we dub this audio over? While some have been masterfully executed, Watchmen/Wall-E and Inception/Toy Story trailer mashes come to mind, others come off as poor attempts to combine two properties you love, whether they mesh well together or not.

Today we’ve got another one, Star Wars: First Class; montages from the Star Wars prequels with the X-Men: First Class trailer’s audio. Does it work? I find it too distracting hearing Kennedy’s voice in the Star Wars universe but maybe I’m not letting the fantasy string me a long. Whatever. Video is below, what do you think of the latest nerd world-smashing attempt at making the Star Wars prequels palatable?

(Sorry, couldn’t resist a little prequel bashing.)

BAHHNN! Ghostception, A Ghostbusters Inception Mash-Up

inception1 copy

Ya, I know it, ‘Inception’ Mash-Ups are so 2010, but goddammit I just can’t let go. The ominous score playing over re-edited trailers of classic films will never get old. At least when it’s done really well. Such as the case with this ‘Ghostbusters’, ‘Inception’ Mash-up. With a small dose of ‘Inception’ music and some excellent editing, ‘Ghostbusters’ can be confused for an intense thriller. Ghostception is hands down the best ‘Inception’-style trailer re-cut out there.

The Princess Bride Star Wars poster

Making a fan-man vintage poster may be simple to do- an Adobe traced collage marked with a few pastel colors and some filters, but it’s what imagination and creativity that goes into them that makes for a memorable and honorable mark in the nerd art Macrocosm.

Case in point. Graphic designer Matthew Ranzetta has taken famous scenes and icons from Star Wars. and merges them with classic non-scifi films. Something so simple yet so brilliant. Original mash-ups that would serve as great feature-length parodies. At-least t-shirts or posters you would be proud to own.

Check out three of the five posters below. If you want to see the others and the rest of Matthew Ranzetta’s artwork, head over to his blog. Like most fan-made posters these are not for sale, but where there is a will there is a way.
