Civil War’s latest trailer made huge waves in the global nerd scene. Coupled with Robert Downey Junior‘s recent consideration of giving up his iconic Iron Man role means that Captain America: Civil War needs to give us the biggest, meanest, most over-the-top MCU pow-wow yet. The cast and creative team seem to be taking all this performance anxiety rather well, all things considered, what with their recent teases and some of the behind-the-scenes hijinks that we’ve been hearing about…



Civil War is the big MCU punch-out that’s been hyped to the Moon and back and we can get why, especially considering the wider implications this will have on the larger timeline. While some fans had their doubts, test audiences were particularly hyped after the first screenings and now, Sebastian Stan, the Winter Soldier, had some pretty great first impressions to lay down on us…



Dreamt up by comic book Zeus Jim Starlinwith his first appearance on 1973’s issue of Ironman #55, the Mad Titan Thanos has become a staple among cosmic adversaries. Already, he has (briefly) taken over the entirety of Existence, rewritten  the Marvel Multiverse in an ill-fated spin-off and has struggled with his embarrassing crush over Death. His big movie breakout in the Avengers series has been already hyped to no end, but what are the future plans for the character, regarding the Marvel Movie Universe?

Thankfully, Josh Brolin has recently weighed in on the character (during a press release for his upcoming film Hail Caesar!) and hinted at a few of the studio’s future plans…


Ryan Coogler Confirmed as ‘Black Panther’ Director


Everyone on the edge of your seats, now! Marvel‘s making a decision about a new upcoming movie! Eight years and twelve critical and commercial hits later, will they make a good creative decision for the film? Well, look at that! It appears as though, once again, Marvel has made a great decision for one of their properties. After months and months of rumors, Ryan Coogler has finally been confirmed as the director of Black Panther. Coogler is not only a great decision; he’s clearly the very best decision for this film.



Cate Blanchett has some big plans for her acting career. The two-time Oscar winner has just received SAG and Golden Globe nominations, well earned through her performance in Carol, and now she has her eyes on a new prize. The… Marvel Universe? The decision may not seem so out of character when you account for her portrayal of Galadriel in Peter Jackson‘s Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, but signing on to any MCU film will catapult her right back into the blockbuster limelight that Blanchett has be flying under the radar of as of late. The Wasp Will Be In ‘Ant-Man’



Long time Marvel fans have always felt a little uneasy about the exclusion of both Ant-Man and the Wasp from the MCU, since both were founding members of the Avengers. This anxiety was compounded when a solo Ant-Man film was announced without any mention of Janet Van Dyne. There’s a curious phenomenon occurring with Marvel Comics Merchandise these days. Classic characters are disappearing from classic scenes, characters that just happen to belong to the FOX studio superhero movie portfolio. That’s right, not only did Marvel cancel the Fantastic Four comic, now it seems that the characters FOX owns the movie rights to are now being actively removed from Marvel Merchandise like the shirt above. For the better part of the last decade or so, Marvel has been busy setting up a rich, ever-expanding cinematic universe for their iconic heroes to play in. Due to this, there is an inherent complexity to the overall lore that can get a little overwhelming if you’re not well-versed with all of their films or haven’t watched them in a while. Now, with Avengers: Age of Ultron set to wrap up phase 2 and launch the MCU into phase 3’s pivotal Captain America: Civil War, it’s about time to treat yourself to either a marathon of the excellent phase 2 flicks or this entertaining 13 minute refresher.
