First Look At Mega Man Universe

mega-man-universe-screenshot

Back when Comic-Con 2010 started, we got a neat announcement trailer for Capcom’s upcoming Mega Man Universe game. While it didn’t show any game play, it did show Mega Man changing into Street Fighter’s Ryu and Ghost ‘n Goblins’ Arthur fighting memorable Mega Man enemies. We also got a glimpse of the bad box art version of Mega Man. Well, with PAX around the corner, it seems that Capcom decided to release not one, but a few different trailers.

While each one starts off with Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, talking about how the announcement trailer has led to to folks discussing what kind of game Universe is, he goes on to say that he hopes that people will get even more excited by the new trailers. From the trailers, it seems that players will go through stages like any other Mega Man game but with different characters. That’s right, there are three trailers and each one has a different version of a “Mega Man.” Also, each trailer ends with a tease of Ryu being chosen but no game play was shown.

I’m calling it now, players will be able to create stages for others to play and that a variety of Capcom characters will be playable, such as Viewtiful Joe and Dante. While I’ll be working during my Labor Day weekend, I’ll try to post any news and update from PAX about Mega Man Universe. Meanwhile, why don’t y’all check out the three trailers, where the other two is available after the jump, to check out the other playable Mega Mans.

Nerd Music: Kirby Krackle’s “Take It From Me”

Screen shot 2010-08-22 at 10.11.54 PM

Kirby Krackle has done it once again with the song, “Take It From Me,” a song about Mega Man. That’s right, the band that brought us the awesome song about Wolverine and about nerd love (which had the Konami code in it), has made a song about Capcom’s Blue Bomber. The video is done by the same artist who did the Up, Up, Down, Down video and it shows Mega Man running with the lyrics being shown on the bottom. Me being the nerd that I am, loved the lyrics and knew immediately about who they were talking about when they mentioned certain robot masters. If you liked the other two songs then take it from me (see what I did there), you’ll have no problem liking this one.

Marvelized Mega Man Characters

Marvel Characters done in the 8-bit Mega Man style.

This is quite possibly the coolest mash-up of nerd properties the world will ever see. If you were an NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) fan than you may have seen a plethora of 8-bit games dedicated to the marvel franchise but I think deviant artist suzuran totally got it right. Enjoy them shits! And don’t forget to check surzan’s account to see more stellar artwork because here at Nerd Bastards we like to support the artists that bring us great content.

Comic-Con 2010: What Is Mega Man Universe & A New Game Tease

MMU

Just like how Nintendo loves to whore the hell out of Mario, Capcom loves doing the same with Mega Man. Recently, Capcom released it’s Comic-Con teaser for upcoming Mega Man Universe. The teaser didn’t really revealed anything other than it’s awesome remixed music. However, it did show Mega Man changing into Ryu (Street Fighter) and Arthur (Ghost ‘n Goblins).

At Comic-Con, Keiji Inafune (creator of Mega Man) explained that Mega Man Universe is a game where everyone portrays what they think Mega Man is. With the guest appearance of other characters, Inafune is hoping to gamers from around the world to get into the “Mega Man Universe.” While the explanation was vague on EXACTLY what the game is, he did tease that they may announce something that fans has been asking for. What it is, who knows, but the first thing that popped in my head was Mega Man Legends 3.

What do ya’ll think? Does Mega Man still does anything for ya’ll? Does Universe interest any of ya’ll? Also, what new game do you think will be announced and what do you want it to be? Tell us after the jump.

Retro Poster Art: Video Game Power Up’s As Products

EnergyTank_1279148405

Ever since I started writing for this site, I have seem many (and have posted many) poster art posts and I think this may be one of my favorites since gaming is my second love (food being my first). Anyway, the Brians over at IGN has come up with some poster art for video games. The posters are basically retro advertisements but instead of regular products, these poster are advertising power up’s as products.

From Super Mario Bros. to Legend of Zelda, there are 12 posters and I wonder how many of ya’ll will be able to recognize all of them. The Bubble Bobble one is may favorite as well as the Metal Gear one. Click after the jump to check out the posters and tell us which one you like. (more…)

Mega Man Meets His Greatest Foe…

megaman

Can you name a foe that has been in most Mega Man games and is an instant death for the blue bomber. No, it’s not Wily and silly mustache. It’s not even any of the robot masters. It’s those damn spike pits. One false move and there goes another life down the hole and ya have to once again go through the stage. Well, PlatonicFriends created this awesome video showcasing how evil spikes are. The video shows that no matter what you do, the game (or Wily) will try to stick a spike up your ass. You know what, after watching this, maybe Wily really is the evil bastard doctor that he claims to be.

10 Video Games That Had Awesome Cameos

vj

With the recent news of the upcoming Naruto game having someone from Tekken making a cameo (of course, the dumb asses don’t pick Yoshimitsu to be that character), I started thinking about past games that had awesome cameos. To some of us, it’s a nice treat that gives us a chuckle and to others,  it gives them hope for a possible crossover. While this list may not be a top ten list, it is a list that hopefully makes some of you think “Wow, that’s pretty cool” or say “Awesome!’ Check after the jump to see if any of the cameos listed are the ones you already know about or some that are news to you.

College Humor: Too Many Mega Man Bosses

Mega-Man-Character-Select-C

For every Mega Man game, we get eight new robot masters to fight and you start wondering how the hell does Capcom keep coming up with names for the bosses. Hell, with just fire alone we got Fire Man, Flame Man, Burner Man, Heat Man,  and Solar Man (Yeah, I have no life). Anyway, it seems like the guys over at College Humor thought the same and came up with some boss names themselves. Check the vid out and also, check out the Mega Man 10 review that was done two months ago that includes an awesome commercial for the game.

Check Out This Fan Made Mega Man Film

itsmegaman

Yes, that is someone wearing the blue helmet of Capcom’s blue bomber and no it’s not a Syfy movie… well, for now at least. About a year ago, the internet got this trailer and mostly good things were said. Hell, even I was waiting for this. Here we are, a year later, Eddie Lebron (who is also responsible for the GhostBusters Generations fan film trailer) released a full fan made film, which clocks in at 93 minutes and best of all, free to watch. The story is pretty much faithful to the first Mega Man game, as it has all 6 robot masters and one memorable boss from Wily’s Castle. Throw in Blues/Proto Man and this film should make any Mega Man fan smile. Just seeing Ice Man and his disorder was enough of a reason for me to watch this.

Mega Man Hoodie is Mega Cool

mega_hoodie_by_bmansnugglesSubtle yet elegant.

Brendan Phillips has designed this sweet-ass Mega Man hoodie so you can pay homage to your favorite classic NES hero and stay warm at the same time. You can’t really ask for more out of life…

Well, maybe one more thing. I think it would be kinda cool to have a Spark Man hoodie. No particular reason.
