The Disney brand has already come out strong this year.  With the Star Wars franchise breaking records, and a full slate of Marvel movies coming this summer, in addition to some fan-favorite tv shows, the Mouse House seems to have its hands full.  Or so one would think.  But more is coming.  Between Marvel shows such as Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Jessica Jones, it may be surprising to hear that another story within the Marvel Universe could be coming to the small screen soon.  After some on and off again rumors last year surrounding an Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spinoff, it seems ABC has finally made up its mind.  A pilot episode has been ordered for the new original show titled Marvel’s Most Wanted, starring (more…)

What better way to celebrate 50 years of SHIELD than with a brand new series of one-shot comics, most of which featuring some of Marvel’s loveliest ladies! What’s even better is that women will be writing some of the comics, which is a win-win on the feminist front!  One-shots by ladies, about ladies!  And not just any ladies, mind you; these are the kick-ass women of SHIELD. WINNING

The first half of ‘Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ season one was crap. It was like watching paint dry with the hopes that the dried paint would be awesome. Then ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ happened. It changed the entire game for our spy friends, making them pariahs on the lam. Being hunted by Hydra was the fresh injection the show so desperately needed to stay above water. Still riding that storyline through season 2, the show has no movie plot to adjust its course. But AOS wasn’t out of marketing ideas just yet ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron’ is still several months away, but that didn’t stop ‘Agents’ from using the film’s hype to entice more viewers. And we totally fell for it. (more…)

If you watched last night’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode A Hen in the Wolf House then you saw Adrianne Palicki, Agent Bobbi Morse aka the Mockingbird let loose with those batons and kick Hydra butt all over the place. Of course she was dressed in her Head of Hydra Security uniform pictured above. We wouldn’t expect her to continue to wear that outfit once her cover is blown now would we? (more…)

*Insert Spoiler Warning Here. This is right were the second Spoiler Warning would have gone if we were going to put in another Spoiler Warning to warn those people who haven’t watched the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last night. I’d like to think it’s only a hand-full of busy parents, cave spelunkers, and the Amish, but we all know that our busy lives put a lot of us on different pages when it comes to when and how we watch our television shows. Suffice it to say that last night was an interesting episode and we saw what might be the last appearance of [REDACTED]. (more…)

Clint Barton made his first comic book appearance as Hawkeye, playing a reluctant villain in Tales Of Suspense back in 1964. He met the Black Widow and together they tried to steal some tech from Tony Stark, but Clint would soon decide against the criminal life and go straight. A year later, he joined the Avengers and eventually commanded his own team of West Coast Avengers. Though he never made it to the top shelf in the aisle, he was always prominent among ace cards like Captain America and Thor. His cinematic debut was a cameo in ‘Thor’ as a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent played by Jeremy Renner. Renner reprised the role in the incredible blockbuster hit ‘Marvel’s The Avengers’ and that was the last we saw of Hawkeye. We’re planning on seeing him again in ‘Avengers: Age Of Ultron,’ but will it stop there until ‘Avengers 3?’ Renner doesn’t think so. (more…)

Adding to a kick ass heroine repertoire that already includes Wonder Woman and G.I. Joe‘s Lady Jaye, actress Adrienne Palacki is bringing her skills to a new role on Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Who will she be playing? Well, I’ll assume you read the headline and say again that she’s playing Bobbi Morse, AKA: Mockingbird. The character was name dropped in Marvel’s TV panel at San Diego Comic Con, but what was at the time assumed to be an Easter egg is actually a major guest role for the fifth episode of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s second season. Last week, I quoted Longfellow in an effort to illustrate the fluctuations in quality Game of Thrones often presents its viewers on a week-to-week basis; a poetic re-appropriation in the purposes of critical evaluation. This week, with “Mockingbird” — the seventh episode of this tumultuous Fourth Season — David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have proven that no such juvenile attempt at literary posturing is necessary, as they have delivered as strong an installment as the series has ever seen. Brimming with a near deluge of rousing dramatic scenes, “Mockingbird” stands as a fitting cliffhanger of a transitional episode, causing (hopefully) everyone who watched to shake their fists in anger at the fact that HBO is having the season go on a brief hiatus for Memorial Day Weekend.
