Screen Crushwas the first to pick up on a disturbance in the Force…Well, a disturbance in YouTube, at least. It started on Oct. 9th when the Star Wars YouTube Channelposted a trailer for Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Episodes V and VI followed (and they used the original title for ROTJ: Revenge Of The Jedi), in the two subsequent weeks, each on Wednesday…
Could this mean a Star Wars: Episode VII trailer is planned for next Wednesday, the 30th? Which also happens to be the one year anniversary of the announcement that Disney had acquired the rights to the SW franchise, and Episode VII is now underway?
There’s a new movie poster and international trailer for J.J. Abrams‘ Star Trek Into Darknesshitting the Internet today. New scenes, a first look at Peter Weller as Admiral Marcus and the above shot of Carol Marcus (Alice Eve) in her skivvies. She works out, just look at those abs.
This movie is pushing all the right buttons for this NerdBastard. Action, drama, the music is incredible, and that Cumberbatch voice, it’s raising the hair on the back of my neck. This trailer seems to hint at the motivations of, and the questionable past moral grey areas of, Starfleet Command’s decisions.
After the trailer there’s the new poster to check out.
This poster brings Kirk, Spock, and Uhura into the chaos and destruction that Cumberbatch’s character creates.
Star Trek Into Darkness hits theater screens on May 17th. Directed by J.J. Abrmas, it stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Simon Pegg, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, Bruce Greenwood, Benedict Cumberbatch, and Peter Weller.
Just the other day we, along with others reported that The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey would also feature the debut of two big movie trailer previews to check out. It turns out that we’ll only get a look at Man of Steel.
The Wolverine director James Mangold took to the twitter-verse earlier this morning to announce that: No, Virginia, there will be no Wolverine trailer with The Hobbit.
Early 2013, what happens early in 2013 that could be bigger than The Hobbit? Maybe we’ll have to wait until the Superbowl to get a glimpse of The Wolverine trailer. Wait, G.I.Joe had a Superbowl trailer and then got pushed back an entire year. Could The Wolverine suffer the same cursed fate?
The Wolverine is set to slash it’s way onto theater screens on July 26, 2013, starring Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, Svetlana Khodchenkova, Hiroyuki Sanada, Hal Yamanouchi, Tao Okamoto, Rila Fukushima and Brian Tee.
With its fantastic cast and mind-bending storyline, Rian Johnson‘s Looper may be one of the most original science fiction tales we’ve seen in the last few years. After only releasing its teaser as well as its initial trailer, people have already begun to have a vested interest in the film.
Guess this means it’s time for TriStar Pictures to release a brand new trailer for us all to enjoy!
Starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Paul Dano, Noah Segan, Piper Perabo, and Jeff Daniels, this newly released trailer for Looper will absolutely make you want go out and purchase your ticket RIGHT NOW. Featuring an altered cut that hasn’t yet been seen and brand new footage, you have to watch this trailer (especially if you haven’t been paying attention) and be amazed! Seriously, any film that has the future version of yourself kick the past you in the grapes already has my money.
…And Josh Brolin is all Tommy Lee Jonesy. Don’t get me wrong, Men in Black 3 does look like it’ll be a fun movie (even with the South Park finger-cuff mobiles). It has wacky aliens and shiny guns and a very MIB plot:
Veteran MIB field agent Agent J learns that Agent K’s life and the fate of Earth are at stake. He must time-travel to 1969 to stop an alien criminal named Boris from assassinating K and changing the course of history of the planet, travelling back from the future to 1969 to team up with the young version of Agent K (Josh Brolin) to stop the alien criminal, while apparently also facing a twenty four hour time limit before he will be trapped in the past forever.
What more could you ask for? Besides for the absence of a Will Smith song on the soundtrack, you know he’s gonna.
For the half-dozen or so of you not insanely excited for the May 4th release of Joss Whedon‘s The Avengers I present for your consideration the brand new international trailer just released in Japan. It features a lot of new footage, more of the mysterious invading aliens, more Black Widow and yes, even more Hawkeye. Hell, the purple bowman even gets a line of dialogue! Also, you might want to layout some plastic sheets because we get an eyeful of the The Helicarrier and I don’t want you to ruin your furniture.
This trailer is possibly the best yet for the upcoming movie about Earths Mightiest Heroes, if this doesn’t get you excited, damn it, what will?!?
So the new thing is to tease the movie’s trailer as well as the movie itself. If you absolutely can’t wait until the full trailer comes out later this week you can check out this trailer teaser Ridley Scott’s Prometheus.
It’s hard to tell because it’s so quick, but it looks like there are a couple shots that are different from what we’ve seen in previous trailers and stills.
Prometheus is out in 2D, 3D and 3D IMAX theaters on June 8.
Keep the news that Barry Sonnenfeld had an unfinished script when they started production in mind and watch the first full trailer for Men in Back 3. Damn, is it just me or does it actually look like it might be a great fun little movie. Granted, watching Josh Brolin‘s frighteningly accurate Tommy Lee Jones impersonation carries the trailer, I even didn’t mind that Will Smith was all willsmithy in it.
MIB3 lands in theaters May 25th.
Agents J and K are back… in time. J has seen some inexplicable things in his 15 years with the Men in Black, but nothing, not even aliens, perplexes him as much as his wry, reticent partner. But when K’s life and the fate of the planet are put at stake, Agent J will have to travel back in time to put things right. J discovers that there are secrets to the universe that K never told him — secrets that will reveal themselves as he teams up with the young Agent K to save his partner, the agency, and the future of humankind.
Damn you Jon M. Chu and damn you too Paramount Pictures. Back in 2009 I had an extremely high amount of fun making fun of the laughably bad G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra. It was a fine example of how NOT to turn a beloved 80’s action figure line into a megablockbuster Hollywood crapfest. Flash forward to 2012 and every time I see a still or a teaser or anything really from G.I. Joe: Retaliation I get the sneaking suspicion they might not mess this one up. Take the above picture for example, now THAT is Cobra Commander. Wait, is that Fire Fly behind him? Are you ‘effing me? Come on, give me something to work with here. This can’t actually be a decent movie.
The action is over the top but not stupid looking. Yes it’s cheesey and ham handed, but it looks like a run watch. Sure, Channing Tatum is back, but they added The Rock and Bruce Willis which totally forgives that. Yes, it will be cheap and mindless, but it looks like it’s also doing the property justice this time around.
Hit the jump and check out the new international trailer.
After reading all the descriptions of the trailer earlier, I can say without a doubt they didn’t do it justice. Damn, for a comic nerd that was luke warm at best to this movie (yes, I admit that, move on, I have) I’m almost thinking this could be damn good now. Maybe Stan Lee was right?
Sony has also unveiled the second official trailer via YouTube for Marc Webb‘s The Amazing Spider-Man and it’s definitively packing a punch. Hell there is even a glimpse of the Lizard, and he doesn’t look laughably bad! Granted, it is late and I am tired from sitting here hitting F5 over and over again waiting for the trailer to drop, maybe I am not the best judge.
You be the judge, hit the jump and watch it for yourself.
