When The Muppets released in 2011 it was a celebrated return to the movies for Kermit, Miss Piggy, and the whole gang. That film was a nostalgia-laden trip through Muppet history and brought them back to relevance after years away. Their follow-up film, Muppets Most Wanted, is an enjoyable caper but as The Muppets themselves sing early on, “everybody knows that the sequel’s never quite as good.”  (more…)

The Muppets are unique in our pop culture because they are not only hip and definitely in style, but timeless. Sure, a lot of this can be attributed to the fact they don’t age and can be continuously reinvented, but I’d like to think it’s more likely because of that special Henson magic. The breath of life given by Jim Henson, his colleagues, and their proteges still Muppetteering today never leaves these characters, even after they’ve stopped moving. Get a glimpse of that magic in action on the set of Muppets Most Wanted with these behind the scenes and b-roll footage clips. (more…)

Some you out there (myself included) have no interest in sitting down and watching giant human beings run into each other for hours on end. We do, however, have a certain desire to see all those fancy new movie trailers that the Super Bowl attracts. So we here at Nerd Bastards, as a courtesy to our non-football readers, have put together the ten big trailers that dropped this Sunday. Some of them are older, some of them are being seen for the first time. So scroll down and get a healthy dose of explosions, fast cars, rampaging Muppets, a double dose of Kevin Costner and Optimus Prime riding Grimlock! (more…)

If you’re like me, you grew up on the old-school Muppet movies as well as the series that started it all, The Muppet Show. Personally, I’m happy to see them making a comeback and the latest installment of the Muppet rebirth is, of course, Muppets Most Wanted. With the coming of the New Year, the folks at Disney have seen fit to give us a couple of teases for the upcoming flick. Check out a couple of promos and a new still below. (more…)

It’s time to play the music. It’s time to light the lights. It’s time to press play on the first teaser trailer for the sequel to The Muppets, Muppets Most Wanted. Coming from the same creative team (sans Jason Segel), the sequel will continue the big screen adventures of Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozie and the rest of the gang as they find themselves on a European adventure. In the trailer you’ll see scenes of new stars Ty Burrell, Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais hamming it up, and you will confirm once and for all if Scooter does indeed have moves like Jagger. But let’s put aside the preamble and get to the trailer:

Plot SynopsisDisney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” takes the entire Muppets gang on a global tour, selling out grand theaters in some of Europe’s most exciting destinations, including Berlin, Madrid and London. But mayhem follows the Muppets overseas, as they find themselves unwittingly entangled in an international crime caper headed by Constantine—the World’s Number One Criminal and a dead ringer for Kermit—and his dastardly sidekick Dominic, aka Number Two, portrayed by Ricky Gervais. The film stars Tina Fey as Nadya, a feisty prison guard, and Ty Burrell as Interpol agent Jean Pierre Napoleon. Disney’s “Muppets Most Wanted” is directed by James Bobin and produced by David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman. Bobin co-wrote the screenplay with Nicholas Stoller, who is also executive producer with John G. Scotti. Featuring music from Academy Award®-winning songwriter Bret McKenzie, “Muppets Most Wanted” hits the big screen March 21, 2014.
