Every week the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut.

Every Monday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com.

Our first Nerdy Bit is sad news for us all. Looks like the rapture wasn’t a a complete pile of crap. Besides Randy Savage another was taken from us, legendary comic book writer/artist, Frank Miller (pictured above). His partney Kimberly Cox tweeted,

I went to check on Frank and he was happily inking at his drawing table around 5:45… I came back after 6 PM and I don’t understand? Why?

RAPTURE! (TDW)

Also in this weeks edition: Just who directed the post-credits bit of Thor?, mod your life with a Millennium Falcon Xbox and Tron lightcycle PC, Ian Mckellan caught playing with himself, Game of Thrones Throne-opoly, The Walking Dead the board game, Pikathulu, play Call of Duty: Black Ops with Samuel L. There’s a new Batman game in town and it’s concept might shock the crap out of you. At least for the diehard Batfreaks. It’s a first-person shooter set in Gotham City. That’s right, an FPS involving the ever vigilante, anti-gun, Batman. Crazy, right? Well the more I read it might just be the good kind of crazy.

Gotham City Imposters is a multi-player FPS set in Batman’s home turf where players can create heroes or villains inspired by the caped crusader or his nemesis, the Joker. Then players get to shoot the shit out of of each other, fun right? I think this concept is brilliant.

Recently Erik Eckstein previewed the game for G4 and he gives us some insight on the game play,

Picture your typical downloadable shooter like Blacklight Tango Down or Breach, yet before panicking, picture it full of customizable Batmen and Jokerites. Players can fully tailor how their particular hero or heroine looks, from cosmetic choices like gloves, capes, and cowls to weapon and gadget loadouts. Pick a Nimble body type, and you’ll move quick, but Tough bodies take more damage. Adopt a grapple gun, and you’ll be able to ascend to a high vantage point, but if you race around on roller skates, you’re a lot faster on the ground.

You’ll be able to choose from a variety of guns (shotguns, assault rifles, rocket launchers, sub-machine guns), support weapons like pipe bombs, boomerangs, and revitalizing energy drinks, and gadgets like the aforementioned grapple gun or glider rig, which lets you float further when jumping/falling. These weapons can also have mods attached to them, so you can tweak a rocket launcher to fire multiple rounds, for example. All of this is gained through various unlocks in the game; the more you progress, the more opens up.

You can join one of two gangs, the Bats or Jokerz, and then you simply waste each other in online matches. I couldn’t really allow myself to make a Bats gang member, I know guns aren’t his style. But a Jokerz member?! Oh, I’m all over that. I’ve already created my Joker-devoted villain in DCU Online, why not branch out into GCI? Plus, GCI sounds like a great pick-up any time game. You play whenever you feel like shooting things, ever have those days? I also can’t help but be sucked in by the promise of so much customization. Creating and developing my character in the DC Universe was, by far, my favorite part of DCU Online.

Created by Monolith Productions, the same guys behind FEAR, in a partnership with Warner Bros. Interactive, and a storyline penned by none other than Jim Lee. This is full of win right? As of now no release date has been announced but it will be available for XBLA, PSN, and PC.

Intrigued by this Gotham-based FPS? I’m already hooked and I haven’t eve seen a bit of footage. We do have this great image of character concept art, available below the cut, check it out.

Huge fan of the Assassin’s Creed franchise? Who isn’t? The game series is one of  the most articulated and well-developed on the market and it’s comprehensive and engaging story lines have launched a legion of fans. Most of those fans, myself included,  are waiting desperately to learn what becomes of Etzio, Altair’s heir. Come November, with the release of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations, we’ll see the final showdown between Assassins and Templars.

Ubisoft has wowed us again and again with this series and Revelations will be no disappointment. The finale is said to include, ” revolutionary gameplay, allowing players to manipulate the construct of Desmond’s memories and the Animus to decipher the mysteries of his past and gain insight into the future.” Which I’m taking to mean we, the players, will be given even more control over the Etzio’s path. Multiple ending, maybe? Possibly, but  maybe I’m reading in to much into the “to manipulate the contruct.” The basic premise for Revelations is,

…master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.

In addition to Ezio’s award-winning story, the acclaimed online multiplayer experience returns, refined and expanded, with more modes, more maps and more characters that allow players to test their assassin skills against others from around the world.

Pictured above is the first released screen cap of the game, click the jump for a larger version. Beautiful, isn’t it? I can’t wait to be tooling around Constantinople, what a great city to practice your free-running and bloody assassinations under a cloak of secrecy. Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will release in November for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3 and PC. Will you be picking up this title release day or is Assassin’s Creed more of a a bargain bin purchase?
