Finally, a new gameplay trailer has been unleashed for Batman: Arkham City! The highly anticipated game is coming to the PlayStation 3, XBox 360, and PC on October 18th. It
gives us our first look at Batman in action as well as characters like Hugo Strange, Catwoman, Harley Quinn and Two-Face.

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City – five times larger than the game world in Batman: Arkham Asylum – and the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new, all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Looks amazing. If this game is anything like the first, we have nothing to worry about. On a side note, every video game trailer should be set to that song “short change hero” by “The Heavy”. It makes you want to snort some blow and kick some arse!

Alice Madness Returns

(article by nerdbastards contributor Sarah Moran @SarahThisIs)

Eleven years after we first ventured to Wonderland with Alice, vorpal blade in hand, American McGee is releasing a sequel to it’s blood, bloody take on the tale down the rabbit hole. Alice: Madness Returns finds Alice no longer at the asylum but still tormented by the memory of her parent’s deaths. She escapes to Wonderland only to find it under the influence of a new evil.

American McGee’s Alice was only released for PC and MAC but this sequel will be finding it’s way to consoles as well (XBox 360, PS3). Personally, this is one of the most anticipated games of the year as it is reported to releases late 2011. The first Alice game is to blame for dragging me into third-person adventure titles, and maybe making me a little obsessed with blades. Something about a knife-wielding chick battling insanity connected with my 13-year old self. And honestly, I’ve never needed  a minute of therapy. At least that’s what the voices in my head tell me…

Check out the trailer and judge for yourself, but it looks like Alice will have her work cut out for her cleaning Wonderland up, again.

Wonderland looked fine before Alice came along. She ruins everything. Eh, at least HOT TOPIC has another reason to stay in business.

G.R.O.W. Lite 2/1/11

BC2

Welcome gaming bastards to another edition of G.R.O.W. This is NerdBastards weekly video game release list where we give y’all a heads up on what was released for the consoles and PC (and sometimes the MAC). We also cover downloadable titles as well.

Yes folks, once again we got another lite edition today as there wasn’t any major game release that came out on disk. Only notable thing on disk is that for you Sims 3 fans, the Outdoor Living Stuff is out today. Other than that, there is a Mr. Bean game for the Wii and the DS… yeah. We do, however, have some downloadable stuff that may be worth your while.

Both the 360 and the PS3 will be seeing the release of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2. The first Rearmed was a great HD remake of the classic title and this game changes a few things (difficulty wise) but the biggest thing they added is the ability to jump.

Other than that, the 360 version of COD: Black Ops is getting their first map pack, labeled First Strike. The $15 pack includes four new multiplayer maps and one zombie map. On the PS3/PSP side, Pac-Man Championship Edition is finally coming out as a $4.99 minis title.

So what are y’all waiting for? Check out these games and see if any of them will make your wallets cry!

hail-to-the-king-baby-duke-nukem-forever-wallpaper

This ain’t no lie folks as finally, and I mean finally, Duke Nukem Forever will be on store shelves on May 3rd, 2011. After 14 long freakin’ years in developmental hell, game engine changes, publisher troubles, and god knows what else, we’ll be able to play as the bad ass once again in an all new game.

I don’t know about you but Duke Nukem 3D was my first FPS and I instantly got hooked to the gameplay and the awesome one liners from the man himself. Everything I’ve seen for Forever has got me excited like a little high school girl that is ready to blow Duke.

Are any of you guys excited to once again take control of Duke and beat down some three breasted monsters or you think Duke Nukem has lost his glory a long time ago and that the game will suck?

*Update: Posted below is a kick ass trailer for the game that get’s me more excited for the game.

PAX-Prime-2010-Portal-2-Co-Op-Screens-Delight

I still remember that moment when Gabe Newell, the main man behind Valve, showing up during Sony’s E3 press conference and saying how the PS3 version of Portal 2 (insert cake is a lie joke here) would be the best console version of the game. How you ask? It was later revealed that the PS3 will be receiving Steam integration, which means PS3 gamers would get updates/DLC the same time PC and Mac users would get their’s and unlike the money hungry Microsoft, you won’t have to pay for the free DLC.

But just in case the whole Steam integration wasn’t enough for you to be convince that the PS3 version would be the best console version, then hopefully the recent announcement will satisfy you greedy bastards. Valve just announced that if you do pick up the PS3 version of Portal 2, you will also get the game for free on the PC and Mac via voucher. Not only that, but the PS3 will have a cross platform feature with the PC and Mac. What more could you ask for?

It’s great to see that Sony has done whatever they can to make this all work as we all know that the PS3 version of the Orange Box was pretty much ass. Of course, me being the PS3 fanboy, I’m happy about this and I will be looking forward to getting me some trophies (can’t help it, I’m a trophy whore).

Dead Space 2 – ‘Your Mom Hates This’ Ad

dead_space_2

Visceral Games and EA have launched a new ad for Dead Space 2, which is set for a January 25th release date. The ad aired during the Falcons vs. Packers game (you know, football) and ever since, people have either voiced how brilliant the ad is or how immature it is.

The ad shows a bunch of moms showing their reaction when exposed to Dead Space 2 footage and you can expect what their reactions were. The ad is a compilation of many reaction videos that can be found on Dead Space’s official YouTube page.

Personally I find the ad and the whole “Your Mom Hates This” campaign funny and brilliant since controversy can be benefiting if done right. Although, for the folks that want games and it’s industry to be taken seriously, the ad is viewed to be immature and may be marketing the ‘M’ rated game to the wrong audience.

What do y’all think of this whole advertising strategy? Is this nothing more than just harmless fun and something to enjoy or is Visceral and EA wrong for doing such a campaign?
