G.R.O.W. is back but only in “lite” form since Tuesday is done and over with. But that shouldn’t stop you from checking out what came out last week and this week as there are a good amount releases that has happen.
Since this will be the lite edition, only the major console releases has been listed as well as some downloadable game you should check out. G.R.O.W. will be back in its full glory next but for now, check after the jump to see if there is anything coming out that will make your wallets cry!
The earliest memory I have about Sim City was that it was one of the few games that were playable on the old ass computers during my 2nd grade only if we got our work done early. A bunch of us guys would build cities just to destroy them because we found it hilarious then and I still find it hilarious now.
The good folks over at CollegeHumor took that concept and created this sketch called Sim City Mayor. Re-elect Ed Ward for Mayor of Sim City or see your city crumble within minutes by a natural disaster of his choice.
Welcome gaming bastards to another edition of G.R.O.W. This is NerdBastards weekly video game release list where we give y’all a heads up on what was released for the consoles and PC as well as downloadable titles as well. “Marty! Marty!” Looks like we’ll be hearing doc saying that and more quotes as it has been confirmed that Christopher Lloyd will be providing his voice. USA Today got a concept art (pictured above) and other details on Telltale Games (Sam & Max series, Tales of Monkey Island) upcoming game. Marty and Doc Brown will look like their movie counterparts and while there will be other returning characters, we don’t know if the any actors will give their likeness or voice. Series screenwriter, Bob Gale, is working on the story development of the game which is set for 5 episodic downloads.
Knowing Telltales history, I’m pretty optimistic as I have enjoy their past release and they are the king when it comes to episodic downloads. What do y’all think? Does any of these news excite you or are you still holding back because of the history of bad movie video games?
We all have suffer Nerd Rage in one form or another. It could have been from a video game, a conversation about comics, or even while watching a movie. Have you stopped and thought what form of Nerd Rage you unleash when you get angry. Well, the folks over at io9 has created this quiz to let you know the wrath of your own Nerd Rage.
You got 13 yes or no questions to answer and who knows, you might find out that you’re a peaceful nerd that doesn’t let things bother you or the quiz could set ya on another rage attack. As for me, I scored a 7, which makes me a “Dangerous Dork.” To find out what that means, take the quiz after the jump and see for yourself. (more…)

Today marked the start of the much-anticipated nerdfest PAX East (a la Penny Arcade) in Boston and if you were there, you certainly left with a nerdbastards.com freebie or two. For those of you scratching your heads wondering what the hell is PAX East?! Here’s a quick run-through: PAX East is like a smaller E3, but intended for consumers rather than developers.
See, they get a bunch of video game hot shots to show off their hardware, software and um…in some cases hot chicks in tall boots. Then they invite the public to hang out and fall in love with all kinds of the latest, greatest gear and games on (or about to enter) the video game scene. Attendees can play games, attend panel sessions about all kinds of cool stuff, see live music and even compete in video game tournaments! Exciting, right? YES! Especially if you like shiny bags of SWAG, the occasional hot chick in costume, new technology, inspiring speeches and wait for it…..BEAN BAGS! YAY! If you want more info on the festival…here ya go.
So now that you have a pretty solid idea of what goes on in general, stay tuned for Luke Gallagher’s spin on the awesomeness of Whil Wheaton’s Keynote Speech delivered today to a packed house. Nerdbastards.com will continue to bring you up to date throughout the three day festival of nerd mayhem and video game buzz.
For those of you attending the festival…look for us Nerd Bastards hanging around in our nerdbastards.com T-shirts (soon to be available to the public)…and approach us. We’ll greet you with an appropriately awkward hello and give you a little token of our appreciation. Thanks to all of our supporters and new visitors to the site who met us today!
Seems like EA wants you to scream in Space once again (as well as to poop yourself), as we got news that Dead Space 2 is estimated to be released within the first three months of 2011. In Dead Space 2, you will once again take control of Isaac Clarke with his fight against the Necromorph that takes place three years after Dead Space. However, that isn’t the only game that was revealed to be released at that time frame, it seems that Bioware will release a squeal to its hit title, Dragon Age: Origins that came out just a few months ago. Bioware did mention that they will keep supporting DA: Origins with downloadable content for about a year and half to two years so it’ll be interesting to see what the squeal will bring if it does release a year and two-four months later.
There was mention of another game that has no title other than that it’ll be Epic Game’s new Shooter. Other dates that was revealed was that the revival of Medal of Honor and the Shooting MMO, APB has July-September release date; as well as NBA JAM, Crysis 2, and non-pc versions of The Sims 3 has a October-December release date. Once again, it seems that good games are coming out and gamers wallets will be crying…I know mines will as I’ll keep eating ramen and tuna-rice because of it.
Big Daddys. Boy did they freak me out when I played Bioshock for the first time… They were a pain to face. Once I defeated one however, it was awesome, as I jumped up and yelled out that I was the greatest video game player in the world (Yeah I know, its pathetic). Well, in your return to Rapture for Bioshock 2, 2K has you playing as a Big Daddy. NOW you get to face the faster, slender (and kinky) Big Sister, as well as a slew of other bizarre, big basterdly baddies. There is the Brute Splicer, which, I’m sure is the fat mindless mess your shocking in the commercials, who needs a shit ton of fire, ice, electricity and old fashioned lead to shred. From what I’ve read there is also more options to harvest your precious, Unobtainium-like Adam. Not only ripping open a cute little Zombie girl anymore but finding Adam slugs along the ocean floor, which is another place you get to traverse, while watching splicers being mutilated by other Big Daddys silently as you peep through windows. How do you get on the ocean floor? Oh. It’s when The Big Sister floods out your multi-leveled level by breakin’ the glass. Besides getting all that, the old token bad guy at the end of every level is a Big Sister, yes my friends…There isn’t just one.
So like heroin and chasing that dragon you never really catch, capture some Rapture. I’m ready for some deep sea diving.
The game will be available next week for the PC, Playstation 3, and -Box 360. After the jump, check out the trailer that 2K revealed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
(Thanks to Tom Landry for the find on the trailer)(more…)
… because it’s going to ruin so many asses. Kotaku posted in-game footage from the upcoming Futuremark space PC FPS Shattered Horizon and it looks so ridiculously fun. Earlier screenshots of this game looked… great, I guess, but failed to give me any reason to care. Looks like I now have a reason to care. This little snippet of footage is filled with gorgeous graphics, guns, and zero-gravity shenanigans… basically everything a game needs (besides zero-g jugs). If the game is half as fun as this video makes it look like, I’m gonna buy three copies.
