When a film makes that much money, it doesn’t matter how many bad reviews it receives or angry blog posts it inspires, the industry makes sure to create more of it, to see how long it can remain lucrative. In the case of the baddest of the bad, it seems like the team behind the movie have taken into account fans’ opinions about what they really liked in this movie, as it has been recently announced that Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as Harley Quinn in a screen adaptation of Gotham City Sirens. We’ve gotten confirmed looks at a bunch of Batman’s villains in their pre-Batman versions. There’s the Riddler, the Penguin, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Harvey Dent before the acid attack, and last night the origin of the Scarecrow. Now it looks like Gotham is ready to unveil Batman’s arch-enemy the Joker. (more…)

Each and every week we scour the Internet for nothing but the best in nerdy art. We leave no digital stone unturned, we poke and prod every nook and cranny of the Interwebz. Why? Because we love you, and we love to bring you weekly Nerd Art Dumps.

The Shining is one of Stephen King‘s greatest spine chilling thrillers, which was later adapted into a spine chilling motion picture by  Stanley Kubrick.  Now, if you let Marco D’alfonso throw Deadpool in the mix, you’ll have the greatest comedy of the 1980s. No matter how dark and scary Kubrick would have tried to make the movie, Deadpool would have wasted the $19 million budget on rubber chickens and kool-aid. [Comics Alliance]

Sometimes fighting supernatural threats just needs a female touch, so why not have suit up occasional ghost buster and resident Ghostbuster‘s secretary Janine Melnitz to tackle the ghosts and goblins. Nothing sexier then a woman in uniform, right fellas? Judging by the boys reactions though they need to step up their game, otherwise they’ll be looking for a new job (again!) [Deviant Art]

So this is Joss Whedon‘s plan all along, using Marvel and it’s billions of dollars just to wiggle Firefly back into the public eye. Don’t get us wrong it’s a “marvel”ous plan, but there’s easier ways to get make another billion dollars Joss. [The Mary Sue]

We have to wait a little longer to see Christopher Nolan‘s The Dark Knight Rises, and NerdBastards’ Matthew Jackson is dealing with the wait by filling his head with as many other Batman tales as possible. In the six weeks leading up to the flick’s release, he’ll be revisiting all six Batman franchise films so far (yes, even the crap ones) and writing retrospective essays on what worked, what didn’t, and what each film means to the franchise at large.

And here we are at the end of the most painful part of this retrospective. I relived the Schumacher era and survived, so now it’s time to talk about the last tragic installment in this chapter of the Batman’s cinematic saga: Batman & Robin. It’s one of the most universally loathed films in history, and managed to knock the Dark Knight’s movie franchise flat for an eight-year stretch. It’s the reason Joel Schumacher‘s name is still met with scowls when you mention him around fanboys (though in his defense, he’s made some pretty decent movies since), and it’s still the biggest blemish on George Clooney‘s career. But just as I was surprised last week that I hate Batman Forever for a different reason than most people, I was surprised this week with a revelation about Batman & Robin: I actually find it less terrible than its predecessor.
