Congratulations to the three of you who got that joke in the headline. But now that it’s out of the way, it’s time to get serious about the third film in The Hunger Games franchise, Mockingjay Part 1. Six new character posters have been released to promote the film, featuring a look, but not a vast look, at the formally mythical 13th District of Panem. There’s a definite aesthetic to design of these posters, and even not so careful observers will see that there are a couple of characters missing from this collection. What do I mean, and who’s missing from this latest round of posterization? Check out the gallery below. (more…)
This is puzzling. I mean literally, not as in I’m confused about what’s happening here. As we hit the halfway point of Day 1 at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Marvel is slowly peeling away this excellent concept art image from Avengers: Age of Ultron. When fans assemble for the Marvel Studios panel on Saturday, there will likely be some kind of Avengers news in the form of a reveal or a teaser trailer, but in the meantime, you can enjoy this slow reveal of the coming fight against the sadistic robot Ultron. Not going to San Diego Comic Con? Too bad, some of this fabulous art could have been yours if you were lucky/shrewd/early enough to get them. Featuring images from the fifth season of The Walking Dead and next summer’s blockbuster in waiting Jurassic World, these collectables will get fans mouths watering (or not, we nerds are so hard to predict). This is surely going to please quite a few Star Wars fans out there.
While he has technically been “retired” for the better part of the last six years, word has it that JJ Abrams has reached out to poster legend Drew Struzan to design the one sheet for Episode VII…and Struzan has agreed to return to the pen and ink to do so. If this proves to be true, it’ll be a huge act of goodwill toward fans on the part of Abrams.
‘TMNT’ Posters Contain a Whole Lotta Fisting (Bonus Comments From ‘Turtles’ Co-Creator Peter Laird!)
The marketing machine for the Michael Bay produced Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot rolls on, with four posters hitting the web today. They’re simple and evocative; featuring the weapons that each reptilian ninja wields in the face of Shredder’s faceless onslaught. Those looking some super weird visual slash fic may want to move on, as I only used that headline as a means to lure in the bigger weirdos who read NB on a daily basis. I’m like the Chris Hansen of comic book movie news. Have a seat…and let’s talk about your bizarre need to see green martial arts experts violate each others’ orifices.
Let the annoying food puns commence!
First we got this weird and cryptic teaser poster in October to whet our appetites for the further adventures of the good Doctor…
Today we get both a new poster (after the jump) AND a dinner date for Hannibal season two: (more…)
Entertainment Weekly brings us these magnificent X-Men: Days Of Future Past teaser posters just released by FOX.
Above is Sir Ian McKellen as Eric Lenscherr AKA “Magneto” in a composite with Michael Fassbender (in the red “X”) as the younger version of the mutant supervillain.
And here is the same concept with Sir Patrick Stewart as the aged Professor Charles Xavier and James McAvoy as the “X-Mentor’s” youthful iteration.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past is due for theatrical release in the summer of 2014.
Movie fans love posters, it’s what use to give us our first look at movies until the Internet let us peer into Hollywood movies months in advance. Although, that hasn’t stopped studios from doing awesome poster reveals, because today, not one, but two high-profile movies and a mystery film released their new posters for our wandering eyes. Lucky us!
First off, the Superhero movies…
Marvel Entertainment released their new poster for The Wolverine featuring the menacing Silver Samurai, who was revealed in a snippet from last week’s trailer. Then we have Warner Bros. who showed off their shiny new Man of Steel banner featuring Supes in space.
Both of these posters are pretty cool and show off both companies clever production value, but the Man of Steel posters has been drawing comparisons to Superman Returns. Seeing as the studio is looking to bring new life into the franchise, they probably should have steered away from Warner Bros. most recent black eye in comic book adaptations.
On the other side of things, Edgar Wright debuted the third and fourth posters to The World’s End, the big finale of his “Three Flavors Cornetto” trilogy. With very little to go on, other than knowing it’s based in science-fiction, Edgar has kept everyone in the dark. Until the official teaser trailer come out on Wednesday, these posters, both from the UK, only add to the mystery of what the hell is going on?
Did y’all catch the teaser trailer for Thor 2: The Dark World, which hit this morning (you can check it out HERE)? I dunno about you, but, it took me by surprise. Coming off the first flick, being as adequate as it was, I didn’t expect much for the sequel. This time around, however, things appear be on a much grander scale. More risk, more at stake, and a hell of a lot more epic. Bottom line: it doesn’t look as cheesy as the first, it actually seems like it’s taking itself seriously. Heck, even the posters for Thor 2 are looking pretty slick…
The talented and legendary Olly Moss has created cast and crew posters for TTDW focusing on Loki, Odin and Heimdall. Check em’ out above and below. If you look closely, the ray from the bifrost bridge and the sky combine to form Thor’s Mjolnir.
And Olly’s payment for the work? One of the Mjolnir hammers used in the film.
Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World,” in theaters November 8, 2013, continues the big screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.
With all the other movies coming out this summer – Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness, Man of Steel – it kind of seems like The Lone Ranger‘s gotten lost in all the static. So now’s a good time to be reminded that it’s also coming out this year. I guess.
Today, two new character posters have been released featuring Armie Hammer as The Ranger, and Johnny Depp as his faithful sidekick Tonto.
Check out this one of Hammer as The Lone Ranger.
And this one of Depp as Tonto.
Synopsis: From producer Jerry Bruckheimer and director Gore Verbinski, the team behind the “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise, comes Disney/Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ “The Lone Ranger,” a thrilling adventure infused with action and humor, in which the famed masked hero is brought to life through new eyes. Native American spirit warrior Tonto (Johnny Depp) recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid (Armie Hammer), a man of the law, into a legend of justice—taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.
