Every day the internet produces an astounding amount of goodies and gems. Most hilarious, some amusing, but all worth at least a few seconds of your time. We here at Nerd Bastards try to bring you the best bits of news and nerdery the webz has to offer, with a bit of snark thrown in. But sometimes not everything makes the cut. Monday through Friday we’ll be bringing you our inbox leftovers, our forgotten bookmarks, the nerdy bits that simply slipped through the cracks. You can submit items to Nerdy Bits by emailing us at nerdybits@nerdbastards.com

Above: I’ve said it before, but body paint is clearly the best way to accurately portray a comic book costume. The level of detail in this Harley Quinn body paint is incredible. It’s a great cosplay by Abby Tymchakers, photographed by Joey D. More pics at Fashionably Geek.

UPDATED! Chris Pine Talks ‘Star Trek 2′ Script, Hints at Romance for Kirk

We’ve already heard praise about the Star Trek 2 script from Simon Pegg, in fact, I’m quoting here, “the new script is AMAZEBALLS!” Today Chris Pine, Captain Kirk 2.0, posted a message on his Facebook page of his reactions to the script,

After a thousand questions regarding the Star Trek sequel I can finally say I am holding the draft script in my hand. I can also now tell you I have a love interest and it’s all looking very exciting. Sorry but I cant give you a date for filming yet, but you guys are going to love it!

A love interest for Captain Kirk? FINALLY! Anyone  familiar with Trek know there’s only one thing that can distract Kirk from his captaining duties, women. A new planet, a new woman to woo, and often they’ll be all sorts of colors and species. Kirk seeks equality among all the women he beds. In J.J. Abrams‘ first Star Trek Kirk hooks up with an green-skinned, Orion slave girl…err space cadet before being busted by her roommate, Uhura. But hinting at a love interest for the Captain implies something less one-night-standy. Could this be the long-awaited appearance of Dr. Carol Marcus? First appearing in The Wrath of Khan Marcus was a woman Kirk had a previous relationship with years prior. Of course, in Wrath we also learn Marcus has a child who oh-so-coincidentally is Kirk’s son, David.

Blastr figured out the space math,

We know the two of them were involved in the late 2250s or early 2260s, with David born in 2261. Abram’s Star Trek film took place between 2255 and 2258, so it’s highly possible if they keep elements from the original timeline.

But remember this Star Trek is occurring in a completely separate and new time line thanks to Spock and the Romulans (great band name, no?) coming back in time and mucking everything up. Meaning this love interest could be a whole new character, Carol Marcus might not even exist in this reality! The possibilites are endless but I know one thing for sure, this Star Trek movie is gonna rock. If Abrams and crew can pull off even a fraction of the incredible awesomeness of their first film I’m going to love it. One part fan appeasement, one part enough newness to make it feel fresh, mix in a dramatic score and some lensflare and we’ve got another fantastic Star Trek film. Something to make us Trekkies (Trekkers?) proud and say “Haha! The most recent film incarnation of our beloved sci-fi franchise is better than yours!” to Star Wars nerds.

UPDATE: Trek Movie is reporting that the Facebook post in question was a fake. The page has already been removed. So, damn. The internet pulled one over one us.
