Ant-Man-Rumor-Casting-Evangeline-Lilly

Evangeline Lilly, the center of everyone’s favorite love triangle on that much missed show of the early aughts, Lost, may be on track to receive her own solo Wasp film.  Lilly’s Wasp will join Paul Rudd’s Antman in summer 2018 for the Ant-Man sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, but writer Adam McKay has indicated that may not be the last we see of the Marvel heroine.  It all depends, it would seem, upon the success of the upcoming sequel.  2015’s Ant-Man was another success for the Marvel franchise, bringing in a worldwide total of $519.3 and sitting well with both critics and the general population.  But will returns like that be enough to get Wasp her own movie? ‘Ant-Man’ Credits Scenes Explained

antman

Maybe you’ve seen Ant-Man by now and have lingering questions about exactly what goes down in the mid-credits and post-credits scenes.  Maybe you haven’t seen the film yet and would like some more knowledge to arm yourself with going in.  Maybe you’re like me and have seen the movie twice already and just think it’s really, really good (in my review of Ant-Man, I mentioned that these two scenes exist, but kept it spoiler-free).  Whatever the case, here’s some deeper info you might not know about the “secret” Ant-Man scenes – and it should go without saying here, but you’re entering MAJOR SPOILER TERRITORY, so consider yourself warned.

Most Marvel fans know to go expect a few curveballs in their movies, (and to ALWAYS stay during the ending credits!), but was a major Ant-Man spoiler revealed by hands other than Marvel’s? LEGO already has a track record of such leaks; such dropping the Iron Man 3 plot twist with Aldrich Killian, and giving us a view of the Vision before his poster was officially revealed. This time the victim of possible spoilage is Ant-Man, by way of an interesting image for an Ant-Man LEGO set. (more…)

Ant-Man Poster

The Ant-Man trailer was classified last week, which means there’s a good chance we are going to see it premiere soon – word on the street is Marvel Studios are going to debut it during the premiere of Agent Carter, which starts on January 6. So what do we expect to see? Paul Rudd as Ant-Man is a good call, possibly some Michael Douglas action as Lang’s predecessor and mentor Hank Pym, maybe Pym’s daughter played by Evangeline Lilly and perhaps even Corey Stoll as Yellow Jacket? Giving that Yellow Jacket is the main villain and he’s going to change progressively throughout the movie, it would make more sense if we see less of Stoll’s villain before the release of the film. However, going by the new banner, that might not be the case. (more…)

Evangiline Lilly

Evangeline Lilly – who is best know for her performance as Kate on the J.J. Abrams produced ABC sci-fi mystery series Lost – has been steadily building up quite the CV after an initially quite stint when Lost officially went off the air in 2010. Starring in films such as the Hugh Jackman vehicle Real Steel, and having a prominent role in Peter Jackson‘s Hobbit trilogy playing elf warrior Tauriel, has no doubt upped her stock in Holywood. Now, with another starring role in Marvel Studios Ant-Man (playing Hank Pym‘s daughter), Lilly is set to grace the big screen again as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in mid July 2015. While promoting The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies, Lilly has been spilling the beans on the storyline of the tightly-lipped Peyton Reed vehicle. (more…)

Edgar Wright fans and Ant-Man fans were dealt a crushing blow when Wright decided to leave the project after spending eight years working on the movie adaptation. Nobody quite knows what happened, but it’s no secret that Marvel henchman Kevin Feige is pretty hands on with all the Marvel projects. The natural assumption has been that Wright was not willing to give away too much creative freedom, and when Marvel decided to change parts of the original script he and Joe Cornish (Attack Of The Block) had worked on, he’d had enough. To this day, nobody really knows the real reason Wright left and it’s pretty much all based on speculation. However, now Evangeline Lilly – who is playing Hope Van Dyne (Hank Pym‘s daughter) – has offered her take on the whole debacle. (more…)

Ant Man - Marvel

Remember the days when you had to wait to see a movie before you could spot the Easter Eggs sprinkled throughout?  Well, Marvel is known for breaking down barriers and changing the rules of the game, and it looks like they are even changing the way audiences spot those little nods to the other characters that reside in the MCU. (more…)

CASSIE LANG

I don’t know a heck of a lot about Hank Pym/Ant-Man. But it seems like everything I do know is being shuffled around until the only source bit sustained is that a superhero shrinks small. The Wasp is a hugely important character in his life and it doesn’t look like she’ll ever see the light of film. Pym is played by an old guy when his comic book compatriots are about his age. And it looks like we’ll gloss over most Pym-ly aspects of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and focus on his successor Scott Lang for the upcoming movie. As evidence to back that up, Director Peyton Reed, looking like the dean from ‘Community,’ told Screen Rant that a pivotal character will be featured in the film. This person IN / The Wasp OUT. And so it goes. (more…)

What do you think of the above screencap? It’s from an episode of the animated series Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and on its own it’s fairly innocuous, but posted on the website of filmmaker Edgar Wright the image takes on new and glorious context. As we all know, Wright is working on the big screen, live-action version of Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd, but there’s a degree of uncertainty as to which Ant-Man Rudd will be portraying. So how does a screen grab from a cartoon shed light on this context? Read on. (more…)
