Let’s wade back into the somewhat controversial waters of Iron Man 3, The Mandarin and a little-known actor named Trevor Slattery. The new Marvel one-shot starring Sir Ben Kingsley, “All Hail the King,” premieres on the Blu-ray release of Thor: The Dark World next week, but we have another clip worth checking out that shows not just what prison life is like for a certain character, but features a couple of Easter eggs that might expand out view of the Marvel Universe. Sir Ben Kingsley
Hey! Remember that twist from Iron Man 3 that was offensive to you, your family, your country and your God, and by that I mean Stan Lee? You know the one I’m talking about. It involves The Mandarin as played by Sir Ben Kingsley. As I’m sure you know, the subject of the Marvel Studios One-Shot that’s to be included in the upcoming Blu-ray release of Thor: The Dark World is Kingsley’s Mandarin, and the short’s writer and Iron Man 3 co-writer Drew Pearce wants you to know that there’s a story detail that’s not an apology and it’s not re-writing history either. If you want to know what he means, I assume you know how Iron Man 3 turned out, and if you don’t, beware of spoilers below. (more…)
Director Gavin Hood‘s Ender’s Game has released a new trailer onto the Internet, it’s got plenty of Harrison Ford as Col Hyrum Graff, Ben Kingsley as Mazer Rackman, and of course some Asa Butterfield as Ender. This time around the trailer focuses on the overall plot of the movie with some fantastic new looks at the space ships and battle effects we’re going to see.
So far what I’ve seen looks great, and I’m planning on seeing this in the theater that opening weekend. Take a look at the trailer below and let us know what you think in the comments section below.
Ender’s Game hits theater screens on November 1st.
A big screen version of Orson Scott Card‘s epic sci-fi novel Ender’s Game has sort of been a bit of a white whale for Hollywood. Decades in on again off again development has had fans wondering if it will ever really happen. Short answer, yes and it looks really expensive. Below is the first teaser trailer for the flick and it just seems to be an endless stream of CGI money shots and Harrison Ford, two things that don’t come cheap. Check it 0ut. (more…)
Harrison Ford and Asa Butterfield took to the Internet today to announce the premiere date for the first Ender’s Game trailer. The good news for us is that it also includes a small teaser trailer with unseen footage. So, this is a thing now in Hollywood, it’s not enough to have a teaser trailer, there’s got to be an introduction by the stars and some huge Internet event.
The world premiere of the Ender’s Game trailer will happen during a Google+ Hangout on Tuesday, May 7 at 1:00 PM PT / 4:00 PM ET. The event also includes a live conversation with director Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), producer Bob Orci (Star Trek Into Darkness) and star Asa Butterfield (Hugo).
Tune in Tuesday to the live Google+ Hangout using the links below:

Check out the teaser trailer below, don’t be surprised that creator Orson Scott Card is not listed or mentioned in this teaser. His views and public statements concerning anti LGBT rights has been a hot Internet topic and sore marketing issue for this production.
In the near future, a hostile alien race called the Formics have attacked Earth. If not for the legendary heroics of International Fleet Commander Mazer Rackham (Ben Kingsley), all would have been lost. In preparation for the next attack, the highly esteemed Colonel Hyrum Graff (Harrison Ford) and the International Military are training only the best young minds to find the future Mazer. Ender Wiggin (Asa Butterfield), a shy but strategically brilliant boy, is recruited to join the elite. Arriving at Battle School, Ender quickly and easily masters increasingly difficult challenges and simulations, distinguishing himself and winning respect amongst his peers. Ender is soon ordained by Graff as the militarys next great hope, resulting in his promotion to Command School. Once there, hes trained by Mazer Rackham himself to lead his fellow soldiers into an epic battle that will determine the future of Earth and save the human race.
There’s an exclusive new 30 second teaser for Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 over at EW. Check it out below and meet me on the other side to discuss.
Three things stood out to me in this quick look at Iron Man 3.
- Pepper is in a fight and takes a hard shot straight to the face, I’m betting Pepper’s training time with Boxer turned driver/security Happy Hogan will pay off.
- I have noticed that the Mandarian says, “My fellow Americans.” Is this just a mocking of the Presidential saying or is something about his past hidden in that message?
- Tony jumping into his suit in midair. I had seen it before, but thought it was Tony in the suit already.
I’m glad to see that Pepper can take it as well as I imagine she will be dishing it out in her big fight scene.
Marvel Studios’ “Iron Man 3″ pits brash-but-brilliant industrialist Tony Stark/Iron Man against an enemy whose reach knows no bounds. When Stark finds his personal world destroyed at his enemy’s hands, he embarks on a harrowing quest to find those responsible. This journey, at every turn, will test his mettle. With his back against the wall, Stark is left to survive by his own devices, relying on his ingenuity and instincts to protect those closest to him. As he fights his way back, Stark discovers the answer to the question that has secretly haunted him: does the man make the suit or does the suit make the man?
Starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale with Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley, “Iron Man 3″ is directed by Shane Black from a screenplay by Drew Pearce and Shane Black and is based on Marvel’s iconic Super Hero Iron Man, who first appeared on the pages of “Tales of Suspense” (#39) in 1963 and had his solo comic book debut with “The Invincible Iron Man” (#1) in May of 1968.
There’s a new clip of director Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 making the internet rounds today. It features Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) suiting up in his new Mark VIII armor. The full clip with additional footage will premiere during the Nickelodeon 2013 Kid’s Choice Awards on March 23rd.
After watching this clip I can imagine a new bonus level on the next Just Dance video game where you dance your way into your Iron Man armor, or maybe some dancing added to the next Iron Man video game. How will Tony don his armor in The Avengers 2?
Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 opens in theaters everywhere on May 3rd and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, and Ben Kingsley.
One of the perks of being one of the major architects of the Marvel Movie Universe is getting to see a lot of cool stuff before anyone else. Kevin Feige recently screened Shane Black‘s upcoming blockbuster Iron Man 3 for a select group of Marvel insiders and press. On of the tidbits Feige threw out was Joss Whedon‘s reaction to seeing the epic final battle in a screening of an almost completed cut of the movie:
“There are a lot of suits in this movie. While it is both a movie in which he spends quite a bit of time outside of the suit, as you see it’s not working and he’s — and he’s with Ty in Tennessee, by the end of it we reveal that underneath the house, which is now covered with rubble, he’s got dozens and dozens of suits.
And once, throughout the course of the movie, and all that rubble gets pulled aside by construction cranes, just when he needs him, he calls them to the rescue and we have what I think is the biggest most action-packed finale we’ve had. I showed the film to Joss Whedon, who is our writer-director of Avengers and who is currently working on Avengers 2, and he saw the finale of this and he goes, ‘Now what am I supposed to do now? What am I going to do in Avengers 2?’”
That Marvel Movie Mania bar just keeps getting raised and Whedon is just the man to keep the trend going with The Avengers 2. Wouldn’t it be interesting if Iron Man bucks the Hollywood trend of trilogies? Could the third movie be even better than the first? We know it will be better than the second, it has to be.
Next we’ve got the new IMAX movie poster for Iron Man 3:
Once again it looks like Tony is going to have the crap kicked out of him, and the movie looks to be one fantastic thrill ride.
Shane Black’s Iron Man 3 stars Robert Downey Jr., Ben Kingsley, Don Cheadle, Gwyneth Paltrow, Guy Pearce, Jon Favreau, Rebecca Hall, William Sadler, James Badge Dale and the voice of Paul Bettany.

‘Iron Man’ Trifecta: Kingsley On The Mandarin, Why Terence Howard Opted Out of Part 2, And Product Placement in New ‘IM3’ Trailer
Fans are eagerly awaiting Academy Award winning actor Ben Kingsley’s portrayal of Iron Man villain The Mandarin in the upcoming third installment of the Marvel superhero’s film franchise. However, they shouldn’t expect a performance that’s 100% loyal to the source material.
Kingsley recently explained to Total Film that he has not read, nor does he have any intention to read the comics:
“I didn’t have any template to copy. I’m undereducated as far as Marvel comics are concerned, and that can be a good thing, like coming to a Shakespeare play fresh rather than having done it 20 times… [It’s a] human portrayal of evil, on a grand scale. [Mandarin] released demonic layers in me…I did go a little crazy!”
It would appear, then, that the decision to not base his characterization on Marvel canon was made not out of laziness or pride, but out of a sincere desire to come at the character from a fresh perspective, as opposed to merely aping the Mandarin of the comics. We’re looking forward to what Sir Ben came up with come this May.
In other Iron Man news, Terence Howard has revealed why he didn’t reprise his role as Tony Stark’s best friend: Lt. Col. James “Rhodie” Rhodes. Apparently the studio always wanted Don Cheadle, and when they had a shot at getting him, they gave Howard a deal that no self-respecting actor would accept: $1 million for the sequel, instead of the $8 million that was expected.
It sounds like a bit of a dick move, but according to Total Film, Howard took it surprisingly well, and bears the studio no ill will:
“I didn’t know it wasn’t a mutually binding contract; it was only beneficial for them and they could bring me back or not. They can honor it or not. And you know they made a great deal, Don (Cheadle) and Robert (Downey Jr.) they get along well. But the best thing that happened as a result of it, I went back to school and finished and got my doctorate in chemical engineering. And now I have a company where we grow diamonds. That’s going to replace the silicon in computers; that’s going to replace all gemstones. So, if that hadn’t happened, I would never have gone back [to school].”
And finally, here’s the newest IM3 trailer, brought to you by the good people at TCL, who also coincidentally happen to have made all those televisions:
Director Shane Black‘s Iron Man 3 has a new trailer out today and it will knock your socks off! Robert Downey Jr. and Sir Ben Kingsley are freaking bringing it with a no holds barred, knock down drag out, take no prisoners, beat down to top all beat downs. Watch this trailer and tell me you didn’t get goosebumps or feel the hair on the back of your nerdy neck stand up.
Here it is in all it’s glory, meet me below to talk about it.
“Today is the first day of what’s left of your life.”
“I’m not afraid of you, no politics here, just good old fashioned revenge.”
“Here’s my boys.”
Holy crap dude. This movie is going to be incredible. The theater’s better have plenty of cleaning supplies on hand to handle all the nerd-gasims that are going to occur once this thing hits the big screen. What do you think? What was the big “Oh Shit” moment in this trailer for you?
Iron Man 3 hits theater screens on May 3rd, starring Robert Downey Jr., Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau, Ben Kingsley and Wang Xuequi.
