Disney‘s got a new princess on their hands and her name isn’t Leia. Last year’s animated blockbuster Braveintroduced the tiny red headed Merida to the Disney lineup of royal personages.
Merida will be officially coronated as the 11th Disney Princess in a ceremony on May 11th at Disney’s Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Florida. The creative team has come up with a new look below for the newly crowned princess.
Merida will be joining the other Disney Princess’s, Snow White, Mulan, Aurora, Belle, Tiana, Ariel, Cinderella, Jasmine, Pocahontas, and Rapunzel in an event that will undoubtedly be magical.
There should be some video coming, both official and from the attending fans when the ceremony takes place. We’ll keep our eyes out and bring it to you when it hits the Internet.

Get a load of these jewels Batman. Gotham’s Queen of crime may have looked awesome in the live-action Dark Knight Rises, but this slightly alternate version by Ivangod may have the big screen beat. Thankfully nothing was stolen at the moment of this drawing - except our adoration. [Deviant Art]

Above: Some of you probably have fond memories of The Rocketeer. Others might be like, wha-? Either way you really can’t deny how fantastic this gender-swapped cosplay is. The retro-ness is perfectly accented by those garters, as well as a few other things. Photographed by gsrho. (CBM)
Universal Pictures has released another trailer for Rupert Sanders’ Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart, Charlize Theron, Chris Hemsworth and Sam Claflin. As if this wan’t enough, they also released an exclusive five-minute first-look preview of the June 1st release.
In the epic action-adventure from producers Joe Roth (Alice in Wonderland) and Sam Mercer, Kristen Stewart plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) joins the cast as the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
Check out the trailer and the five minute preview and let your fellow NerdBastards know what you think.
Right after Chris Hemsworth introduced the teaser to the Snow White and the Huntsman trailer yesterday, three featurettes were released. This morning the powers that be on the Snow White and the Huntsman production team released a FOURTH. It’s Snow White on over drive this week.
Kristen Stewart seems pretty pumped up in these shots. This might be an attempt from the shows producers to dispel some of the much criticized wooden acting skills of Kristen, often complained about in the Twilight movies.
In the epic action-adventure (It has to be epic, every person in the featurettes say so about every other minute) opens June 1st. Kristen Stewart (The Twilight Saga) plays the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor, The Avengers) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) plays the prince long enchanted by Snow White’s beauty and power.
Welcome to the age of teasing the teasing of the teasing of the trailer that will tease you.
Hollywood’s marketing geniuses are poking the bear with this trend. It’s pretty devious in fact. They know that sites like NerdBastards are always on the prowl for anything to keep the flow of information rolling. Now the powers that be in Hollywood can get four or five posts on various sites for just one trailer.
Their pulling a “Hanzel and Gretel” on us, leaving a trail of crumbs, right into the warming oven.
Wow, where did that come from?
So according to Chris Hemsworth, “The wait is almost over”—and he’s not talking about The Avengers, he’s introducing a sneak peek at the new trailer for his other big film, Snow White and the Huntsman.
Next Monday, the latest trailer for Snow White and the Huntsman will debut during NBC’sThe Voice. In Universal’s adaptation of the fairytale, Kristen Stewart plays Snow White and Oscar-winner Charlize Theron stars as the Evil Queen.
Snow White and the Huntsman is an action-adventure that turns the classic on its head. Instead of waiting for a Prince (Sam Claflin) to save the day, Snow White takes matters into her own hands. She trains with the Huntsman and is prepared to go to war with her nemesis.
The film definitely has a darker tone than its competitor Mirror Mirror which hits theaters March 30. There’s less comedy and more Chris Hemsworth wielding an ax. It doesn’t matter if it’s a hammer, a bat or a sword; he’s pretty good at throwing things.
Snow White and the Huntsman opens in theaters June 1.
The classic Snow White story has two adaptations hitting theaters this year, but Snow White and the Huntsman seems to be winning the popularity war before either has even been released. Click through the jump to see brand-new photos Empire Online. Snow White and the Huntsman, starring Kristen Stewart and Chris Hemsworth, Charlize Theron, Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Nick Frost, Bob Hoskins, Brian Gleeson and Johnny Harris, hits theaters June 1.
Poisoned apples, dwarves, axes, and a delightfully wicked Queen, what else could one ask for?
It’s true she must be the fairest in the land because you couldn’t swing a dead dwarf without hitting someone involved in a project about Snow White. Once Upon a Time, Snow White and the Huntsman, Mirror, Mirror, and here’s another to add to the list,Order of the Seven.
Originally titled Snow and the Seven this new adaption from Disney is quite a different spin on the tale. The dwarves are now martial arts masters and Snow is a displace Englishwoman. And no, they’re not actually little people who know kung fu. That would be ridiculous, though possibly more entertaining.
The Hollywood Reporter is describing the movies as,
In this iteration, the seven are a 19th century-set disparate band of international warriors belonging to a centuries-old order who have lost their way. They meet with an Englishwoman who is being chased by an ancient evil, and she proves to be the catalyst for their redemption. … While the project is set in China, the warriors will be from locales near (the U.S.) and far (Russia), and each warrior will have a unique fighting style.
Originally Natalie Portman and Jet Li were attached but now it seems Hanna‘s Saoirse Ronan could be cast as the Englishwoman. Michael Gracey will be directing.
Seeing as this movie is very far removed from the original story of Snow White, hopefully less people will make the connection and it could actually help the movie in this Snow-saturated market.
What do you think of yet another Snow White flick?
Here’s a new trailer for Universal Pictures Snow White and the Huntsman, which debuted as part of Charlize Theron‘s guest appearance on Top Chef. I guess foodies love fiction. Anyway, the preview is virtually identical to the first trailer accept for a few brand-new shots. In both trailers, it’s all about Miss Theron. She’s like “Oh hai, look at me! I’m playing a evil witch, aren’t I all bad-ass and evily?”. And I’m totally cool with that. I think Universal is smart for pimping out Charlize for this movie. Why? Because a girl who has NO facial expression whatsoever (Kristen Stewart) is Snow White. Blank stares don’t sell a movie!
While I’d love to bash Stewart some more, I think it’s best to say this movie looks legitimately awesome. Crazy and totally unexpected!
Directed by Rupert Sanders, the fantasy take on the classic fairytale also stars Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth, Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, Lily Cole, Sam Spruell, Liberty Ross and Noah Huntley.
We shared with you the trailer for Snow White and the Huntsmen not long ago, and so now we’ve got the trailer for the other Snow White movie, Mirror Mirror.
This one is directed by Tarsem Singh, with Julia Roberts as the Queen, Lily Collins as Snow White, Armie Hammer as Prince Alcott, Sean Bean as the King and Nathan Lane as Brighton, the Queen’s servant.
Mirror Mirror will be released on March 16.
So, now that you’ve seen the trailers for both Snow White movies, what do you think? There are clearly pros and cons to both films. Would you see both or is there one you’re more interested in? In my opinion, Mirror Mirror has a better cast and Snow White and the Huntsman has a more interesting plot… but it has Kristen Stewart.
