Spiderman: Homecoming

When Spider-Man burst into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Captain America: Civil War, fans reactions were mixed, to put it lightly. While Tom Holland‘s incarnation of the masked webslinger seemed inoffensive enough in the small part he played in his debut Marvel movie, it marked the third reboot of the character in less than twenty years. Although there was a good chance the new series would be of decent quality now that Marvel is really hitting its stride in terms of its cinematic output, some people were cautious about finding room for another Spider-Man into their lives. A lot of Spider-Man movies have been released in the past fifteen years. Andrew Garfield’s incarnation of the web-slinger launched just four years after Tobey Maguire hung up the cobwebbed cowl. Instead of finishing The Amazing Spider-Man series, the iconic character has instead swung into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with yet another reboot now due for 2017. While it’s easy to see why some fans would be reluctant to get excited about another retelling of the same story so soon, a lot of the criticism already levelled at Spiderman: Homecoming has nothing to do with the potential lack of originality. Birdman

Spider-Man: Homecoming is the first Spider-Man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After being introduced in Captain America: Civil War, Spider-Man will be played by Tom Holland. It’s safe to say that Marvel Studios have got their casting for Peter Parker bang on the money but more often than not it is the villains that fall flat in the web-slinger’s movies. Back in early April, fans were given a ray of hope when it was rumored that Batman himself, Michael Keaton, was in talks to play the lead villain in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Alas, that was short lived and almost a month ago to the day, NerdBastards brought you the news that Michael Keaton was no longer in contention for the role after talks broke down. Well dry those tears, quit saying Beetlejuice three times and stop watching Birdman on repeat because there is good news after all!
