The Truth is out there. Or rather it was sneaked into a commercial break on last night’s episode of Wayward Pines. Fox gave fans a special sneak peak at next year’s X-Files relaunch during the penultimate episode of Pines Thursday night, a show that obviously owes a lot to The X-Files‘ and its intriguing blend of the macabre and the bizarre. So apropos then that it should be through the M. Night Shyamalan series that we get a – sigh – full 15 seconds of X-Files preview. So that’s not much, but it’s enough to tide us over, and I’ll admit that it’s also a very tantalizing 15 seconds. Wanna check it out? (more…)
It’s hard to predict, but every so often a TV season will produce a new show that quietly gets noticed during production but then absolutely explodes in popularity once it’s released. Call me crazy – or perhaps simply precognizant – but I feel like Fox’s Minority Report has an excellent shot at being that kind of “Holy crap, this is awesome and I had no idea” type of show.
I’m not basing this statement off of anything other than pure speculation and gut instinct, of course – but at least now I’ve got some actual footage to back up my claim. That’s right, Fox has released the first “teaser trailer” for the show, which is set to premiere this Fall and run on Monday nights.
MOR-TAL KOM-BAT! Coming up on the annual tease for all things video game, the E3 Convention in Los Angeles, NetherRealm Studios has dropped their first look-see at the upcoming tenth Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat X. The game will be released across most platforms – PS4, PS3, Xbox 360, Xbox One and PC – in 2015, but the general public and the media will get to sample the goods next week at E3. As a taste of things to come, the studio has released today a teaser trailer featuring an epic rematch between Sub Zero and Scorpion. Are you ready to take your first look at the game? Of course, you are. (more…)
This waiting for the new season of Doctor Who is like waiting to get to the fireworks factory, but since we’ve all been good little Whovians these last few months, we’re getting our first peak at season 8 of the show, and of the Twelfth Doctor in action. I say peak because that’s all you’ll get, it’s the new Doctor’s silhouette – AGAINST THE BACKDROP OF AN EXPLODING TARDIS!!! Ahem. I mean an exploding TARDIS makes sense because the last time we saw it, it was crashing. The ongoing adventures of The Doctor (Peter Capaldi) and his companion Clara (Jenna Coleman) are certainly getting off to an incendiary new beginning, which will pick up from the Christmas special on BBC this August. Ready to get teased? (more…)
Are you guys excited about Super Bowl Sunday? Not about the game, of course, but about all the new movie trailers and ads we’re going to get. Forget the Seahawks and the Broncos, game day is really going to be about setting up the bigger fight between the Star-Spangled Avenger and his mysterious new adversary in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. As these things go now, here’s the teaser for the ad that will air during Sunday’s Super Bowl.
X-fans were very excited by the news that director Bryan Singer would be sticking around after the upcoming X-Men: Days of Future Past to make a follow-up featuring fan-favourite bad guy, Apocalypse. Less exciting was the idea that the Apocalypse to be featured in the creatively titled X-Men: Apocalypse would be some kind of alien that comes down and infects Magneto – the young version played by Michael Fassbender – and that a teaser at the end of DOFP would set the whole thing up. Singer says this is not the case, and he is setting the record straight in a new interview. (more…)
Got any plans for 2014? How about a wedding? Well, Marvel’s sent out the invitations, but something tells me you won’t want to stick around for the reception because things might get a little messy. As in a bloody mess! But why would Marvel Comics invite us to a wedding day massacre? Two words: red wedding. If Game of Thrones can do it, then so can Marvel. (more…)
The last time we heard anything about the Star Wars gaming franchise it was an uncertain future for several triple-A titles, many of which were in the middle of completion. After LucasArts’ acquisition by the Galactic Empire – I’m sorry, I mean Disney – the company would no longer be making their properties in-house, opening up the market for big name gaming companies to buy up a multi-year license to sell the Star Wars name.
Now, with the first day of the annual E3 convention underway Electronic Arts, who acquired the multi-year license, unveiled what many of us have been waiting for since 2009, Star Wars: Battlefront. Not much is known about the game, but EA was kind enough to tease the fan base with a short trailer. Check it out below.
It looks great and even knowing it’s all a rendered cut scene doesn’t hurt it. It’s a Star Wars game people actually want. Although what will the game include? Seeing as the teaser for Star Wars: Battlefront only gives us so much, but wanting so much more, we did some digging and came up with a possibility.
For starters the title was built using EA’s exclusive Frostbite 3 gaming engine, the same engine used by the company DICE and the very same one that will debut with the release of the upcoming Battlefield 4. If you’ve been paying attention to E3 and the history of the Battlefield franchise, that means highly destructive environments, beautiful graphics and lighting, as well as dynamic gameplay. And if EA is smart they’ll have included the use of lightsabers and force powers because you know somebody is going to play a game as a Jedi or Sith, it’s a given.
A release date and rating is unknown at this time and any other information on Battlefront comes up drier then a moisture farm, but well be sure to keep you updated on more information as it becomes available.

Sony and Microsoft have each been issuing reports teasing at their revealing of a new next-generation console for some time. As their current systems get on in years the possibility (and necessity) of a new system creeps ever closer. Honestly, this is like the cold war of the gaming industry and while Nintendo stands off to the side rehashing the Wii into the Wii U the real big boys of the gaming world have been going toe to toe.
Now it appears as if Sony might be kicking off the next-generation gaming run via a mysterious video. Surfacing online earlier, it may possibly be the beginnings of an announcement about the release of a new Playstation.
Check out the video and read on after the jump.
Now that we know a proper R-rated Riddick is on it’s way we can expect quite the rip-roaring film thanks to David Twohy and Vin Diesel. Being the good sports that they are, they’ve released the first image since their buddy cop photo reveal back in December. Now Vin has released a brand new photo to get the fans all “wet”.
Looking all buff and brooding like he always does, this image has surfaced onto the Internet in promotion of Riddick. Featuring a wet landscape and Vin, in his Riddick persona, on some kind of floating bike – minus the post CG after effects – really gives a tone of how the film will play out. And while we already know about Richard B. Riddick, how about some of the new blood to the “threequel”? Hit the jump for more.
