Now, for some news on that long-awaited and oft-forgotten Master of the Universe movie reboot. It looks as if Warner Bros. is damned and determined to get this thing going and there has been a little more progress… well, sort of. A new scriptwriter has been brought on-board to try at yet another incarnation of the film, while the director previously signed on to the project has bowed out. Who now has the power? By the power of Greyskull, read on through to find out.
Recently, while talking with The Hollywood Reporter about his upcoming film Into the Woods director Rob Marshall let out the news that Terry Rossio (one of the original Pirates writers) was busy overhauling the Pirates of the Caribbean 5 script, hoping to get it to a point where Johnny Depp might give it a thumb’s up.
Marshall told The Hollywood Reporter:
“Terry is writing it and he’s working incredibly hard and he did a draft and rethought it all and started working on it again. You want to make sure you are asking the audience to come back to see an exciting adventure and it has to reach that caliber, and if not there’s no reason to do it. I know Johnny feels the same way: He needs to see a script, but he would be happy—if it’s the right script—to put that hat and sword back on.”
You didn’t think it was over at four movies did you? There is no way Disney is going to leave this franchise until the money stops flowing. Sooner or later they may run this ship aground but until then, just batten down your hatches and be prepared for another movie every four years or so.
Just be happy that the “Hall of Presidents” or “It’s a Small World” rides haven’t gotten off the script writing phase and into production. Wait . . . the animatronic presidents save the day after Disney is invaded by alien invaders from space . . . then run for re-election.
