Nerd Bastard’s Collection of 25 Superb Supercuts

- 06-08-12Featured, Funny Videos Posted by Sarah Moran

Compilations, montages, supercuts. Whatever you want to call them, lately, they’re everywhere. I like calling ‘em supercuts. It’s fun to say. Supercuts. Suuuppeeerrcuts. See?

Anyway, supercuts are videos comprised of only one thing from either movies, television, video games or cartoons repeated over and over and over again. There are Star Wars supercuts, My Little Pony supercuts, Game of Thrones supercuts, Quentin Tarantino supercuts, and even a supercut focusing on the “Spielberg Face.” Basically, if some savvy video editor starts to notice recurring cliches, lines, or even camera shots they’re going to edit ‘em all together into one massive supercut.

Here we’ve got a superb collection of 25 supercuts spanning all kinds of things. Check ‘em out and let us know which is your favorite! I know we haven’t included every excellent supercut so if you’ve got a favorite we missed share it in the comments below and help us make this an ultimate collection.

Every Single Fucking Dude from The Big Lebowski [TannerStraus]

He’s just, “the Dude,” y’know? What an enviable title, who wouldn’t want to be known by one and all as, “the Dude”? This style of supercut is pretty common, an edit of one word or phrase repeated again and again, but there’s something about hearing “Dude” continually repeated I find calming. It’s good for my zen.

Seth Rogen as The Dude in Reitman’s ‘Big Lebowski’ Live Read

- 03-29-12Film Posted by Adam A. Donaldson

Jason Reitman‘s series of live readings at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art wraps tonight with The Big Lebowski, the tremendous 1998 Cohen Brothers comedy-drama starring Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore and Steve Buscemi.

We’ve now learned via Entertainment Weekly and Jason Reitman’s Twitter that playing the role of The Dude, Bridges pot-smoking, bowling-enthusiast, rug-loving man of leisure, is Seth Rogen, which is a bit weird because Bridges was playing against type, and I can’t honestly remember a role Rogen played where there wasn’t at least one scene where he was stoned. But hey, I assume Reitman knows what he’s doing.

Rounding out the rest of the cast for the live read are:

  • Rainn Wilson will play Walter, originated by John Goodman
  • Hank Azaria will play Donnie, originated by Steve Buscemi. He’ll also play the P.I. Da Fino and Karl Hungus.
  • Nick Kroll will play The Jesus, originated by John Turturro. He’ll also play Jackie Treehorn and Tony the chauffeur
  • Fred Savage replaced Patton Oswalt and will play Brandt, originated by Philip Seymour Hoffman. He’ll also play Smokey and the cop who finds The Dude’s car. He, Kroll and Azaria will together be the Nihilists.
  • Christina Hendricks will be Maude Lebowki, originated by Julianne Moore.
  • Catherine Reitman will by Bunny, originated by Tara Reid.

I can’t say a lot about the casting of Rogen, Wilson or Azaria, but I’d kill to see Hendricks read the eternal words of Maude Lebowski: “In a sense, yes. My art has been commended as being strongly vaginal which bothers some men. The word itself makes some men uncomfortable. Vagina.” And the whole coitus bit, too. Awesome.

Reitman’s previously hosted readings of The Breakfast Club, The ApartmentThe Princess BrideShampoo, and Reservoir Dogs, and like the other readings at LACMA, the Lebowski one is sold out.

Anyway, check out this poster for the event, created by Matt Owen and curated by Gallery 1988, then put on the original film tonight and it’s almost like being there.

Movie Scenes Straight Out of a Kids Book

When do you start exposing your children to classic movies? According to artist Josh Cooley, sooner than you’d think!

Cooley has created a picture book based on scenes from classic movies that you can read to your kids before they go to bed. Why not give the little younglings some culture? We all know Dr. Seuss isn’t going to teach them anything useful in life.

Check out below the jump for a sample of some of his work, and you can also check out his book, and even order prints of the pages, here.

If Other Movies Were Tron-ified

- 11-29-10Film, Funny Videos, Tech Posted by David Manly

Tron Alien

Tron is a movie that signified the changing of the guard for movie making – using computer to create effects. Most movies, from romantic comedies to horror use digital animation or effects to make the movie ‘better’ (depending on the movie, that is up for debate).

With the upcoming sequel of Tron Legacy, it is understandable that people are really excited to head back into that world.

The website Ain’t It Cool News decided to host a competition in celebration, by having people “tron-itize” scenes from their favorite movies in order to win a seat the the annual Butt-Numb-A-Thon (a 24 hour marathon of movies in Austin, Texas).

And, I must admit, some of them are pretty epic!

Without further ado, here are the top five:

The Big Lebowski Meets The Matrix

- 09-09-10Film, Funny Videos Posted by David Manly

Big-Lebowski-web

Yet another mash-up video that seems, in terms of its premise, is completely ridiculous … and yet it works. Somehow, a mash-up of The Dude being told by Morpheus about The Matrix is pretty good!

It’s not the best mash-up I’ve ever seen, but it’s a damn good one.

And be honest, if you were told about the Matrix and that you were living in a giant computer game, wouldn’t you drop the F-bomb a couple of times?

Remember – The Dude Abides.
