Although kind of overshadowed by the relative newness of Jessica Jones, let’s not forget about the show that started this new era of Marvel TV on Netflix: Daredevil. The new year will see a new season of the Man Without Fear on the streaming service, and it will see some well-known faces from Marvel Comics join the show as Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) quests to clean-up post-alien attack Hell’s Kitchen, which has become a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Now, with three days left till 2016, we’re bring given a good long look at Frank “The Punisher” Castle (Jon Bernthal), and Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung) in the new season of Daredevil. (more…)
We’ve had Daredevil and season two is coming, Jessica Jones will be available to stream in a couple of weeks, and Luke Cage is now cast and ready for production. But aren’t we missing one? There were four superhero series that Marvel Studios agreed to produce for Netflix, plus the Defenders miniseries that would combine those four heroes into one team. As you may have noticed though, there’s been precious little news about Iron Fist, like who will play him, or even who’s running the show, and now, there’s a rumor out there that there will be no Iron Fist. Instead, for the fourth member of the Defenders, get ready to be punished. (more…)
******UPDATE OF THE UPDATE: Found a Tweet with the video that still works, watch it fast!

If you’re a Marvel fan, and you’re looking forward to the next phase of Netflix’s five series plan, Jessica Jones, hold on there for a minute because Daredevil is here to say, have you missed me yet. The first season of the series about the Man Without Fear launched in April and was an immediate hit with fans and critics thanks to its darker tone, bone-crunching action, and spot-on casting. So how about that second season? Well, those attending New York Comic-Con got a taste of Daredevil season 2, and now you can too, but just a taste. The official trailer is now posted online for your approval. (more…)
The helm of the Punisher in films has been played by: Dolph Lundgren, Thomas Jane and Ray Stevenson, with each iteration only being only slightly better than the last. Marvel’s Daredevil Season Two on Netflix’s will see The Punisher on screen once more, this time played by Walking Dead‘s Jon Bernthal. Will fans get a proper Punisher this time around? While doing some press for Call of Duty: Black Ops III at E3 Rosario Dawson also talked a little about her character Claire during Netflix‘s Daredevil Season 2, her possible crossover into Netflix’s Jesscia Jones/Luke Cage/Iron Fist series, and her excitement about the casting and introduction of the Punisher (Jon Bernthal). Sometimes for actors, a job is just a job. And sometimes, part of that job requires you to go out and tell the media how pumped you are to have that job. Do all actors mean it when they say that they are “thrilled” to be playing a certain role? Probably not. For Jon Bernthal, better known to the geeky masses as Shane from AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead, being cast as The Punisher for the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil series, this role seems to be just another paycheck for him. (more…)
Despite the recent back and forth about two houses divided under one roof, anything Marvel Studios does, on TV or at the movies, is sure to generate excitement. To wit, some casting news just hit the interwebs concerning the second season of the Marvel/Netflix series Daredevil, and some pretty major casting news at that. Interested in seeing the Man Without Fear in the same room with another marquee Marvel character? Well, in season two of the show, Daredevil will cross paths with Frank Castle, AKA: The Punisher, who will be brought to life by a fan who is no stranger to playing a dark and disturbed comic book character. Walking Dead fans: Jon Bernthal is you’re new Punisher! (more…)
David Ayer’s all-star bad guy lineup Suicide Squad revolves around a team of villains that are tasked with carrying out dangerous missions for the government in exchange for commuted sentences. Actor Tom Hardy had originally been set to play Rick Flagg, leader of the Suicide Squad. Hardy dropped out of the project under mysterious reasons; with the part being taken up by RoboCop star Joel Kinnaman. Rumors had been circling that Hardy pulling from the project was due to him being unhappy with the script, but in an interview with Collider, Hardy explains the real reason he had to buck, as well as his fondness for the script and concept for Suicide Squad. Those of you scratching your head over the expression “alley” can just mentally equate it to “top par.” (more…)
Marvel has done fantastic in the world of Hollywood for the last few years but they’re equally stong in the animated market. With a multitude of series on their way, a lot of kids are going to be happy and, according Jeph Loeb, Marvel’s Head of Television, so will us bigger kids.
Loeb, who’s a busy man developing live-action and animated shows based on the Marvel catalog of characters, was a recent guest on the worldballoon podcast. During his time on the podcast, he shared some of the recent developments on the Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. series for ABC and a few of the animated programs scheduled for 2013. While Loeb does reveal 15 other animated projects at various stages in production the one that caught our attention is the currently unannounced animated project starring Frank Castle, better known to us as The Punisher.
While he doesn’t get into specifics, he does mention the inclusion of the Black Widow — which isn’t much more than a tease, but it’s a start. Just the idea of an animated Punisher sounds awesome and I personally can’t remember the last time he was in an animated series outside The Super Hero Squad Show — don’t ask how I know, I just do.
His work on the first Punisher and the short film Dirty Laundry should cement his spot voicing Frank one more time and hopfully Marvel will be smart to listen. They’ve done a great job listening to the fans so far and this isn’t the time to start letting us down now.

Thomas Jane has played the Frank Castle, Mickey Mantle, a member of the Vegan Police, Jonah Hex, a soldier, a gigolo and more, but the thing that is most impressive about the every-man actor is his mind for comics.
More than a fan of the medium, I spoke at length with Jane about pre-code comics, Bruce Jones, and adapting the cult horror film (which and short story Dark Country (which Jane directed) to a wordless graphic novel by Thomas Ott. After that, we spoke about the future of comic book inspired films and I asked him if he’s done with The Punisher. (more…)
