Thor: The Dark World is visually epic and full of battles and world saving shenanigans, but the Asgardian demi-God’s second solo outing lacks the heart and punch of its predecessor. Simply put, you may walk out of this with a smile on your face, but you’re likely to forget why by the time you get to the car.
This week, the talk of the movie world is a dark one, Thor: The Dark World that is. But on the occasion of the release of this latest Marvel Studios film, some look even further ahead to the release of another superhero flick, the space-bound Guardians of the Galaxy. The two franchises came together on the red carpet this week as Guardians director James Gunn talked about his film on his way to the premiere of Thor.
While it has been officially confirmed that the events of Thor: The Dark World will have ramifications in the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. show, it’s yet to be announced what other Marvel movies, if any, will have an effect on the show. It’s no secret that superhero movies are hot nowadays, and with The Avengers opening the doors to superhero team-up movies and crafting a superbly interconnected universe, they may just be more popular than ever. A lot of people are calling for other members of the super group to join in, but due to those properties being licensed out to other studios, the thought of an Avengers movie with other popular superheroes, like Spider-Man and Wolverine, have seemed like something we’d only see in our dreams. According to Marvel Studio head Kevin Feige, however, we shouldn’t count it as an impossibility just yet. (more…)
As if we haven’t been hammered (hehe, get it?) in the head enough with Thor: The Dark World footage, here’s another featurette for the film. This one focuses on the villain Malekith, played by Christopher Eccleston. It features several of the cast member discussing the character and shows off some footage.
Over the summer Thor: The Dark World director, Alan Taylor caused a bit of a stir when he mentioned Joss Whedon, creative architect of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, had provided some rewrites and a bit of new material for the film. This led frantic fans to believe the film wasn’t any good and Whedon was called in to fix it. Not so, corrects Kevin Feige, the overseer of the MCU and true master of the Disney/Marvel superhero franchise. (more…)
Thor: The Dark World is only weeks away and with it comes the next part of Marvel‘s Phase 2 and another step closer to The Avengers: Age of Ultron. This clip has absolutely nothing to do with any of that, I just want to make sure you weren’t forgetting what all this is building towards.
