Remember this picture? It was posted on social media several weeks ago when Thor: Ragnarok was shooting in downtown Brisbane, which was doubling for downtown Manhattan. It appeared as though the God of Thunder were looking for an address in Greenwich that is the location for the Sanctum Sanctorum, also known as the home of Doctor Strange. So over these many weeks, the rumor mill has been churning, will the Sorcerer Supreme make an appearance in the next Thor feature? Well, this latest piece of grist for the mill was provided by Dr. Strange himself, Benedict Cumberbatch, and it seems to indicate that yes, yes he is going to appear in Thor: Ragnarok(more…)

Thor: Ragnarok‘s casting thus far has been a treat to the fans, having included newcomer fan favorites like Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, Dredd, Star Trek Beyond), Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, Babel), and of course, Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Fly); also returning will be Chris Hemsworth (Thor himself, of course), Mark Ruffalo (as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk) and Tom Hiddleston (as beloved villain Loki). Recently, another actor let slip that he spent some time on the set film’s Australian set, and it’s setting up a nice reunion.

Of the unexpected treats of Marvel Studios‘ panel at San Diego Comic Con was a short mockumentary made by Thor Ragnarok director Taika Waititi that chronicled what the God of Thunder was doing while his superhero buddies were beating on each other in Captain America: Civil War. A lot comedy was mined out of that bit with comedian Daley Pearson as Darryl, Thor’s roommate in what may be the most hilarious odd couple situation since Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, and the people on the internet, who have seen the short since it was made public, agree. But is that the last we’ve seen of Darryl? (more…)

Shooting on Thor: Ragnarok continues Down Under, and by that we mean Australia obviously. Production on the film has been proceeding for over a month now, but much of that seemed to be in studio; shooting out and about on the streets among the public is usually where the leaks happen. But taking social media promotion to the next level, the crew of Thor is leaking stuff themselves from the streets of Brisbane, which is presently subbing for the streets of New York City. And that’s where we catch up with Thor as he wanders the streets looking for a… very specific address. (more…)

A lot of people were announced as coming back for Thor: Ragnarok including star Chris Hemsworth, who obviously has to appear because he’s playing the title character. Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, and Anthony Hopkins will all be making appearances along with Hemsworth’s Avengers co-star Mark Ruffalo. But someone was missing. Someone who was pretty important to the first two Thor films, and is often mentioned in the Avengers movies too because she just so happens to be the God of Thunder’s mortal love interest. So why hasn’t Natalie Portman been mentioned in relation to Thor: Ragnarok? Simple answer: she’s not in it. (more…)

Of the various Marvel things discussed this past weekend in Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, not much was said or revealed about Thor: Ragnarok. The simple reason is probably that the film just began production in Australia; we know all the cast members and it’s too early for finished film, so they just posted a fun little behind-the-scenes video in the vain of Taika Waititi’s vampire mockumentary What We Do in the Shadows. Still, if you’re starving for Thor news, how about something from the style section. One cast member was required to get a new hairdo to get into character, and he shared the results with fans on your source for breaking news, Twitter. (more…)

After a stunning debut in Captain America: Civil War, a lot of people are very excited to see what’s next for Black Panther when he appears in his own solo movie in just another year and a half. Tonight at San Diego Comic Con, Black Panther director Ryan Coogler revealed that the main cast for the movie, along with Chadwick Boseman of course, will include his Fruitvale Station and Creed star Michael B. Jordan, Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o, and everyone’s favorite katana-weilding zombie slayer Danai Gurira. Together, they will literally be the new face of comic book movies for the highly anticipated Marvel film. (more…)

Last week, we started get leaked set photos from the outdoor shoot of Spider-Man: Homecoming, the latest Marvel Studios film to go before the cameras, but now the latest, latest Marvel movie has now begun principle photography. We’ve followed Thor on his powerless journey to Earth, we’ve followed him into the Dark World, and now we will follow him into Ragnarok, AKA: the end of the world because the cameras are now rolling on the third Thor movie, Thor: Ragnarok. Director Taika Waititi made it official yesterday with an official set photo on the leading source for official announcements: Twitter. Captain America: Civil War will be in theaters everywhere in a couple of weeks, Doctor Strange is currently in post-production, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is presently before the cameras in Atlanta. Next up is the untitled Spider-Man film, and then we’ll be into Thor: Ragnarok, the third in Marvel’s series of somewhat disappointing solo adventures of the Norse God of Thunder. Adding fuel to the speculation that the studio is trying to shake things up for Thor in the upcoming film is an interesting casting announcement that a rising star from Creed is joining the movie for a very central role. Thor: Ragnarok is still almost two years away from its release, but it seems like we’re getting a lot of news lately about what to expect from the film. Here’s what we know: Mark Ruffalo will appear as Bruce Banner/The Hulk and the plot will involve some kind of “road trip” in space. Here’s what we know that’s yet to be officially confirmed: Cate Blanchett will be playing the villain, likely Hela the ruler of the Underworld, and the plot may possibly be about her destroying Mjolnir. Now let’s take a real leap, as the internet gives us a rumor that’s particularly more difficult to swallow, that Marvel will somehow turn Thor 3 into Planet Hulk. (more…)
