While everyone had questions, one that slipped many people’s minds, except those that are primarily comic book fans, why isn’t Jeff Goldblum‘s Grandmaster blue like in the comics? When we last left Loki, the God of Mischief, he was sitting atop the Throne of Asgard pretending to be his adapted father Odin and watching his brother walk away and return to Earth and the Avengers. But then what? We imagine some of that will be addressed in the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok, the third chapter in the saga of the God of Thunder, played by Chris Hemsworth, and his highly dysfunctional family. According to Tom Hiddleston, the man that’s played Loki very successfully in three previous Marvel movies, his character’s not at all over past disagreements with his brother, but he’s willing to be brotherly enough to stop an imminent threat. Doctor Strange DVD/BluRay hits stores February 28th and some of the extras are making their way onto the Internet. This is the first triple-hitter year for Marvel Studios. In May, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 will arrive, followed in July by Spider-Man: Homecoming and then Thor: Ragnarok in the fall. So far, we’ve gotten a pretty good look at GOTG2, we’ve gotten some initial glimpses at Spider-Man, but unless you were at San Diego Comic Con, the most of Ragnarok you’ve probably seen is either that “documentary” about Thor’s downtime, or the post-credits scene from Doctor Strange. Well, look for no trailer here, that will be in another couple of months, but below there’s some art you’ll definitely want to see. (more…)
The “Ragnarok” in Thor: Ragnarok refers to the end of the world as imagined in Norse mythology. The events of Ragnarok were preluded to in The Avengers: Age of Ultron when Thor was fucking off on a vision quest, took a dip in a cavern-based pool (presumably took a dump beforehand) and had a himself a trippy vision quest – in which he sees a nightmarish version of Asgard, where he’s blamed for killing all of his friends and family. But what the hell did he do to lead up to this catastrophe and how the heck is The Hulk involved?
Question no more. The studio has finally revealed an official Thor: Ragnarok synopsis that confirms some of the story details that have been whispered across the net; including some strong ties to Planet Hulk. (more…)
Doctor Strange was a huge hit for Marvel Studios back in November, and that’s good because Marvel was in desperate need for a hit. Hah! Of course, they aren’t. Doctor Strange was the latest in a long line of successes for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as it was expected to be, so when next might we see the good doctor? Surely another Marvel hero could use a hand in a mystic arts matter in the near future, right? Well, it turns out you’re correct. Dr. Strange will be appearing in a Marvel movie in 2017, and you can probably guess which one it is. (more…)
Since well before the development of Thor: Ragnarok, there were rumours about Planet Hulk. The fate of the incredible Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron left things very much up in the air in terms of the Green Goliath’s fate, and when it was announced that Mark Ruffalo – and Hulk himself – would be appearing in Ragnarok, billed as a space road trip movie, the rumour mill really started churning about how the film was going to incorporated Planet Hulk in some form. Well now form has become substance because Thor director Taika Waititi has confirmed that the road trip will be stopping off on Sakaar, the titular planet from Planet Hulk. (more…)
