Marvel's "Ant-Man" Booth Signing During Comic-Con International 2014

Marvel‘s Ant-Man has certainly been through a lot of changes since that initial announcement years ago that Edgar Wright would be bringing Marvel’s smallest hero to the big screen. Now its got a new director in Peyton Reed, and changes to the script which brought about Wright’s sudden departure. What those script changes might be is still unclear, but when three writers (Adam McKay, Andrew Barrer, and Gabrial Ferrari) were brought on board after Wright left to work out script issues during filming, one has to imagine more than just a few tweaks. The earlier draft was rumored to include some flashback scenes with the Micheal Douglas Hank Pym characters. Will that scene remain and what Marvel characters might it include? (more…)

The 11 Best Episodes From the 11th Doctor – Part 1

The popularity of Doctor Who has skyrocketed since Matt Smith took over the role of the 900+ – now 1200+ – year old Time Lord, especially here in the States. When the series triumphantly returned in 2005 is was still very much a cult show with a small, yet devoted fanbase. Over the seasons the show’s audience grew. David Tennant‘s four year run as the Tenth Doctor did much to bring the series into the spotlight; ask almost any new-to-Who fan and they’ll say he was their first Doctor. Today, Doctor Who is a bonafide, mega-hit. In the last few weeks leading to this Saturday’s premiere Matt Smith and new companion Jenna-Louise Coleman have been featured on dozens of magazine covers, appeared on late night talk shows, and their faces are plastered on ads everywhere. Doctor Who is BIG.

Which is only fitting, really, as the series enters its golden anniversary, celebrating 50 years. In this, the first part of a two part list – hey, if they can split their seasons in two, why not us? – we’ll be covering the best episodes of the Eleventh Doctor. These episodes are listed chronologically, not in an order of great to greatest. Ready? Let’s dive in, GERONIMO!

Toby Jones Returns as Arnim Zola in ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

- 01-21-13Comics, Film Posted by Mark Poynter

Now that the news about Toby Jones returning to the Marvel Universe as Arnim Zola in Captain America: The Winter Soldier has hit the Internet we can start speculating about the possibility that he will return in his robotic body from the comics.

There was a scene in the first Captain America movie that showed the plans for the iconic image that Captain America fans recognize.

Zola survived the war and ended up in the custody of the group that would eventually become S.H.I.E.L.D., much like the German Rocket Scientists were brought to the United States after the war. One can easily imagine Zola, under guard, working for S.H.I.E.L.D. to develop new spy tools and weapons. It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump to believe that Zola might secretly build and transfer his mind  into that easily recognizable robot body.

The film stars Chris Evans, reprising his role as Steve Rogers/Captain America, and franchise newcomers Anthony Mackie as the Falcon and Frank Grillo as Crossbones. Also returning are Samuel L. Jackson as Fury, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill along with Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes.

Set to be directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Captain America: The Winter Soldier will hit 2D and 3D theaters on April 4, 2014.

Universal Already Developing a ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ Sequel?

- 04-29-12Film Posted by NickBungay

Even though Snow White and the Huntsman does not hit theaters until June 1st, Universal has decided the property as earned the right for a sequel. A source close to DeadlineHollywood  says the studio is in discussions with Men in Black III writer David Koepp to come aboard to write Snow White 2: Electric Boogaloo.

Why would a Universal push forward with a sequel without results from the first film? Well, production and pre-production are too separate things. Snow White and the Huntsman is poised to be a hot property. Universal is confident the first film will do well. Assuming the film lives up to its promise, they want to have a sequel with script, cast, and director ready to go.

Now, here’s the thing. The Queen dies (I assume) and Snow White gets her happy ending. The end. What is the sequel going to be about?

Snow White and the Huntsman stars Kristen Stewart as Snow White, Charlize Theron as the queen, and Chris Hemsworth as the Huntsman. Sam Claflin, Ray Winstone, Ian McShane, Eddie Izzard, Bob Hoskins, Toby Jones, Eddie Marsan, Stephen Graham, Ray Winstone, Lily Cole, Sam Spruell, Liberty Ross, and Noah Huntley.

Another ‘Hunger Games’ Clip – Katniss and Gale Say Goodbye

- 03-19-12Film Posted by Luke Gallagher

Another day, another Hunger Games clip. Good lord, I’ve seen so many freaking clips these last few days that I feel like I’ve seen the whole movie. This really is starting to become a product of too much marketing. Anyway, this new clip features Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) bidding farewell to her hunting buddy Gale (Liam Hemsworth).

I really have no commentary on this scene. I’m sure Ms. Lawrence and Mr. Gale have met fan expectation and all, but I was far too giggly at how Jennifer is so easy to masturbate to, even when she’s all sweaty and distraught. Don’t you agree?

Maybe tomorrow Lionsgate will finally slip us fans a freaking scene from the games themselves. They’ve shown us everything else. Give us some teenage butchery right fucking now!

Directed by Gary Ross, the film also stars Josh Hutcherson, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Donald Sutherland, Wes Bentley, Amandla Stenberg and Stanley Tucci.

Every year in the ruins of what was once North America, the evil Capitol of the nation of Panem forces each of its twelve districts to send a teenage boy and girl to compete in the Hunger Games. A twisted punishment for a past uprising and an ongoing government intimidation tactic, The Hunger Games are a nationally televised event in which “Tributes” must fight with one another until one survivor remains.

‘The Hunger Games’ Releases New 30 Second TV Spot

- 03-09-12Film Posted by NickBungay

It’s fucking crazy how popular The Hunger Games is. The book series, by Suzanne Collins has a fan base that rivals Twilight.  Here’s hoping those same fans come out in droves for the upcoming HG movie and dethrone Twilight from the box office. Gawd, how I would love that!

Lionsgate (which oddly enough, owns the Twilight films rights) is certainly pushing The Hunger Games to be a tour-de force. New clips and TV spots are being released daily. In fact, a new TV spot from The Hunger Games is now online and offers another look at the highly-anticipated March 23rd release.

Starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Lenny Kravitz, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland this 30-second spot gives fans another quick look at “the games”. The spot also shows off a pivotal interaction between Cinna (Kravitz) and Katniss (Lawrence) shortly before the beginning of the 74th annual Hunger Games.

Check it out in the jump below.

Second New ‘The Hunger Games’ Clip Hits the Net

- 03-06-12Film Posted by Mark Poynter

The second clip fromThe Hunger Games is now online and shows off Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss with Lenny Kravitz’s Cinna, her stylist for the 74th annual Hunger Games. Check out the video below.

The scene is very much like the book, but I have to say that Lenny’s performance in this clip has me even more excited to see the movie. The Cinna character in the books always seemed reserved to this NerdBastard, Lenny brings out Cinna’s burning desire to make a statement out in the open to enjoy.

Directed by Gary Ross, the film also stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland.

“The Hunger Games” arrives in theaters on March 23rd.

Two New TV Spots for ‘The Hunger Games’ – Mall Tour Announced!

- 02-22-12Film Posted by Luke Gallagher

Lionsgate is now airing two new TV spots for The Hunger Games, which feature glimpses of the many colorful characters, as well as key scenes from the celebrated book series. I’m sure fans will go all GA-GA over it. If it doesn’t, well… there’s always a US mall tour to look forward to. Yep, the makers of the Hunger Games are hoping to catch the attention of tweens and mall rats everywhere.

Seriously, a mall tour? That’s some 80′s boy-band marketing type shit (New Kids on the Block anyone?). While the tactic seems dated, it has been successfully used for the Twilight series. If it worked for that horrid franchise, why not another? ( Yes, I do have some specious hate for The Hunger Games, but I’m keeping my mouth shut on this one. It’s too hot to mock) Basically, the production company schleps actors around the US and dumps em’ off at a mall for autographs and awkward photo ops. It’s corny, but as an average mall goer myself, I’ll admit it’s always exciting seeing celebrities drop by while you’re eating cookies and yelling at kids to get off the escalator.

Check out the official press release after the jump to see if the cast of The Hunger Games is coming to YOUR mall. *queue up the song “Lets All Go to the Mall” by Robin Sparkles.

Oh, before you read the press release, here’s those two TV spots I promised you:

- 02-02-12Film Posted by Adam A. Donaldson

It’s getting to the point that you don’t even have to watch the Super Bowl to see all the ads anymore…

Like yesterday’s revelation of the Super Bowl spot for G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the 30 second spot for The Hunger Games has been posted in advanced of that other big game taking place in Indianapolis on Sunday night. Check it out for yourself below:

You’ll notice I didn’t leave any commentary about The Hunger Games trailer. Why? Well, we  said some rather unkind things about the franchise in an early post and we got smacked upside the head for it. Apparently,  insulting The Hunger Games  is the equivalent of shitting on baby Jesus’ eye.

The Gary Ross-directed adaptation opens in theaters and IMAX on March 23rd and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Lenny Kravitz, Wes Bentley, Toby Jones, Alexander Ludwig, Isabelle Fuhrman, Amandla Stenberg, Stanley Tucci and Donald Sutherland
