The childlike wonder with which Mark Wahlberg delivers the declaration “GUYS, I THINK WE JUST FOUND A TRANSFORMER!” will go down in the annals of history as maybe one of the best line readings EVER. Despite having hated all of Michael Bay’s previous Transformers motion pictures, my ticket for Terry Hoytes v. Robots is 100% sold (fuck Batman v. Superman — this is the really real cinematic showdown). Now there’s an international trailer (complete with Chinese (?) subtitles) to sell the remaining few of you who weren’t already down with this clash of titans. (more…)
What the fuck is an Imagine Dragon anyway? Aren’t all dragons imaginary? What a redundant name for a band.
Sorry. I couldn’t help but vent there, as I honestly can’t fathom how these ‘musicians’ became popular. Now that they’re contributing their muzak-ready drivel to Transformers: Age of Extinction, I guess we can use them as a baseline for whether or not the person sitting next to you has taste that jives with the lowest common denominator. It’s kind of like that moment when emo music went totally mainstream via Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2 and that awful Fantastic Four movie. From that day forward, if you listened to anything remotely resembling Dashboard Confessional or Taking Back Sunday, your taste was automatically “corporately influenced”. (more…)

Considering that Transformers: Age of Extinction opens in theaters in less than two months, the news that the production has just added two new cast members might sound a little odd. The movie is in post and has to be ready to go very soon, so what does the Michael Bay movie machine think it’s doing when it grabs up John Goodman and Ken Watanabe? No, Bay hasn’t gone insane. There’s actually a good reason for it and you can scroll on for the details. (more…)
This time on The BastardCast, Jeremy and Jason are joined by regional tag team dead lift champions Chris Cummins (Den of Geek US) and Matthew Jackson (Blastr) to pump up the show. What do we talk about with our jowly and fur covered mouths that have worn the shame of gravy for longer than most men?
We talk about these things: (more…)

It’s no big thing these days when you head down to watch a PG or PG-13 movie and see lots of things blowing up. Action and violence have become mainstays of modern cinema and, truth be told, it’s almost less common to witness a movie where there isn’t a bit of chaos and destruction. So you can pretty much expect that the fourth installment of the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Age of Extinction is going to be just as explosive as the last three. However, one of the actors in said movie, Titus Welliver, is stepping up to voice his opinion that this PG-13 action-fest may not be quite as family friendly as people might otherwise assume. (more…)
