TV Spots

As if we didn’t know, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens this Friday in theaters everywhere, and likely on four or five screens in the each of those theaters. Over 4,400 screens in total will host The Force Awakens this weekend, which is about 4,368 more screens than the original Star Wars opened on in 1977. Still, the point is that the hype machine has been ratcheted up to 20 (and it only goes to 10), so do we really need the reminder that this is what’s coming? Of course not, but here to remind us any way are three new TV spots for The Force Awakens. (more…)

With Iron Man wrapped up and Captain America on the sidelines until 2014, another Marvel hero must rise – and let loose the golden locks of justice. While containing plenty of what was seen in it’s first trailer and SDCC, Thor: The Dark World released it’s first official TV spot with several new pieces of footage (though, I didn’t see any) from the Alan Taylor directed sequel.

After the events of The Avengers, Thor (Chris Hemsworth) has since become a hero to two worlds, but this time he faces a force that even he might not be able to defeat. With the fabric of reality and the protection of the nine realms at stake how far is Thor willing to go to save the universe? Check out the first spot below:

Marvel’s “Thor: The Dark World” continues the big-screen adventures of Thor, the Mighty Avenger, as he battles to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a shadowy enemy that predates the universe itself. In the aftermath of Marvel’s “Thor” and “Marvel’s The Avengers,” Thor fights to restore order across the cosmos…but an ancient race led by the vengeful Malekith returns to plunge the universe back into darkness. Faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand, Thor must embark on his most perilous and personal journey yet, one that will reunite him with Jane Foster and force him to sacrifice everything to save us all.

The lack of new footage disappoints  me, but still, I’m looking forward this. Seeing a golden haired man speak medieval gibberish, flying around by spinning a hammer around really fast. T’is awesome. Verily.

Check Out 2 New TV Spots For G.I. Joe: Retaliation

You know that Simpsons where Poochie is introduced to the “Itchy & Scratchy Show,” and in the first episode of the new “Itchy & Scratchy & Poochie Show,” the cat and mouse duo are heading to the fireworks factory, and they come across Poochie, who starts rapping about who he is and why he has so much attitude, and then Milhouse, watching the show, gets all flustered and shouts, “When are they going to get to the fireworks factory?!”

Yeah, waiting for G.I. Joe: Retaliation has been a lot like that.

Here are two new TV spots for the movie, which will be out in theaters on March 29th.

In this sequel, the G.I. Joes are not only fighting their mortal enemy Cobra; they are forced to contend with threats from within the government that jeopardize their very existence. The film stars D.J. Cotrona, Byung-hun Lee, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, Jonathan Pryce, RZA, Ray Stevenson, Channing Tatum with Bruce Willis and Dwayne Johnson. Directed by Jon M. Chu, and produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Brian Goldner, from a screenplay by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick based on Hasbro’s G.I. Joe characters.

But when is G.I. Joe going to retaliate….?!

Today has been heavy with TV spots.  Instead of rifling off of a bunch of short posts, we thought it would be much more reader friendly to compile them into a compendium. OK, I admit it. We were just too goddamn lazy. Anyhow, scroll on down to see some new spots for Expendable 2, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises.

Lionsgate has released a third TV spot for The Expendables 2Much like the first two spots, you can expect explosions and geriatric  acting.

In the August 17 release, Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone), Lee Christmas (Jason Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunnar Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Toll Road ()Randy Couture and Hale Caesar (Terry Crews) — with newest members Billy the Kid (Liam Hemsworth) and Maggie (Yu Nan) aboard — are reunited when Mr. Church (Bruce Willis) enlists the Expendables to take on a seemingly simple job.

Are you burnt out on revamped, re-imagined, overdone fairy tales? Too bad! They just keep coming. This summer sees the release of Snow White and The Huntsman, a decidedly action packed version of the classic fairy tale, and the CW is bringing Beauty and the Beast back to TV with their updated series airing this fall.

First, above you’ll see our first look at Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan as the Beauty and the Beast, and uh, well yeah. She’s surely beautiful, not denying that, but what’s with his scar? They must be focusing on his inner beastly qualities. Like maybe he’s a huge asshole, or something. I don’t know, but that scar does more to make him appear rugged and handsome rather than beastly. And then I remind myself this will be a show on the CW, so of course he’s to be more hot throb than disfigured monster.

This series isn’t anything completely new, in fact it’s basically an updating of the 1987 Beauty and the Beast which starred Linda Hamilton as Catherine Chandler and Ron Perlman as Vincent, or the Beast. It also stars Brian J. White, Max Brown, Nina Lisandrello, Nicole Anderson and will air Thursdays at 9 p.m in the fall.

So, bastards, will you be giving Beauty and the Beast a shot?

Secondly, four new TV spots have been released for Snow White and The Huntsman, opening nationwide June 1st.

Honestly, I think this movie looks pretty darn good. Sure, it stars Bella Swan– I mean Kristin Stewart, but it also has Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Theron. Do you think you’ll see Snow White and The Huntsman when it comes out? Or is this one to see in the dollar theatres, or hell, even wait for it to hit he Redbox?

We’ve got some more footage from The Avengers for y’all tonight!  Now, I’m sure you’ve all got the scoop on this film: it’s directed by the master Joss Whedon and will be released on May 4, 2012.

Another two  TV spots were released today with some new scenes from the upcoming movie.  I wonder if this means we’ll have seen the whole film before it’s officially released with all of these TV spots.  But I’d still go opening day to watch it. So I guess it doesn’t even matter.

Hit the jump for the two clips we’ve got for you tonight.  Lots of Hulk smashing and semi-witty linage below!

It was suggested yesterday that Tuesdays should become Trailer Tuesdays. I suppose we also have grounds to push for a TV Spots Tuesdays thing.

We’ve got new TV spots for Cabin in the Woods and Men in Black 3.  As far as I know, there are just a few seconds of new footage in either TV spot.

Cabin in the Woods, produced by Joss Whedon, is a thriller about five friends who go to a secluded cabin in the woods and fucked up shit happens.  Apparently some early reviews of this film have been favorable.  Maybe I’m biased against these kinds of films but I don’t really see how it could be any good.  Y’all can find out on April 13.  Or this weekend if you’re able to catch an advanced screening.

Men in Black 3 really needs no explanation.  Check it out (or not) on May 25.

Word on the street is that we have another Ghost Rider movie to, uh, look forward to. (Yes, I’m intentionally acting like this hasn’t been a thing for a while. I enjoy my willful ignorance.)

Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor of Crank and Gamer are directing the thing. According to /Film, some people were actually getting excited about Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance. Big mistake. When it was premiered… Things went downhill faster than some poor mofo’s dick when he learns that the hot chick at the other end of the bar used to be a dude.

Anyway, we’ve got some behind the scenes footage and some TV spots for y’all.

Click here for the making-of reel. I don’t want to spend more time in jail than that poor bastard who offed Michael Jackson.

Hit the jump for the TV spots. Or don’t. Whatever.

Contagion is a frightening, sci-fi thriller from Steven Soderbergh about a terrible virus set loose on the world that begins wiping out all humans, very quickly. Well, it’s not so much sci-fi since little of this story will be fiction. Hence, why it’ll be so terrifying, the whole concept is frighteningly possible. Contagion follows,

the rapid progress of a lethal airborne virus that kills within days. As the fast-moving epidemic grows, the worldwide medical community races to find a cure and control the panic that spreads faster than the virus itself. At the same time, ordinary people struggle to survive in a society coming apart.

Below is a gallery of six new character posters, each featuring a members of the stellar ensemble. For realz, this is probably some of the best casting an apocalyptic flick will ever get: Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Marion Cotillard, Laurence Fishburne and Sanaa Lathan. Must be nice being a Soderbergh picture.

In addition to the great posters, we’ve also got two televisions spots to share. Watch one below and the second below the cut. Then let us know are you pumped for Soderbergh’s viral, apocalyptic thriller releasing September 9th, 2011.

You know it’s summer movie season when your television is flooded with an insane amount of TV spots and trailers. Today we’ve collected the bunch that recently released for you viewing pleasure.

First is the newest spot for Rise of the Planet of the Apes. While I’m still on the fence about this film, I hold the originals very dear to my heart, I have to admit these apes look creepy real.

Synopsis: A single act of both compassion and arrogance leads to a war unlike any other — and to the RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The Oscar-winning visual effects team that brought to life the worlds of Avatar and Lord of the Rings is breaking new ground, creating a CGI ape that delivers a dramatic performance of unprecedented emotion and intelligence, and epic battles on which rest the upended destinies of man and primate. Opens August 5th.

More TV spots for Captain America, Super 8, and Cowboys & Aliens after the cut.
