War for the planet of the apes

If we, in fact, live in the darkest timeline, we’d be faced with not one, not two, but maybe three or four sequels to Tim Burton’s ill-conceived, poorly-received Planet of the Apes remake. But 20th Century Fox – or rather the executives who ran Fox 16 years ago – decided against continuing the series and went for a new, fresh start that took the better part of a decade to realize.  But when Rise of the Planet of the Apes arrived in multiplexes seven years ago, it was not just the exception to the Hollywood rule (all remakes are bad, all reboots are questionable, at best), but it was truly exceptional too. The final trailer for director Matt Reeves‘ (Let Me In, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) War for the Planet of the Apes has hit the Internet and it’s packed with action and tense situations. The Planet of the Apes franchise holds a special place in this NerdBastards’ heart and it is wonderful to see it recover from the 2001 disaster that was Tim Burton‘s Planet of the Apes. This latest installment appears to have everything a Planet of the Apes movie should, apes, action, social commentary, horse riding apes with guns. Check it out below. (more…)

War has come to the Planet of the Apes and the Colonel (Woody Harrelson) is out to destroy Caesar (Andy Serkis) and all his kind in War for the Planet of the Apes. Interestingly enough, Caesar is fighting two battles in WFTPOTA, the obvious one with humans and perhaps the most important one, the battle against his darker instincts. Check out the new poster and trailer below. (more…)

apescontest

Hollywood Marketing Departments certainly love a good movie contest, hoping to raise awareness and spark some fan interaction across the Internet. This time around War For The Planet Of The Apes director Matt Reeves and motion capture star Andy Serkis want to see your best impersonation of an ape. What’s the prize up for grabs? A part in War For The Planet Of The Apes as one of Caesar’s apes of course! (more…)

Director Matt Reeves is back in the saddle for War of the Planet of the Apes, the third film in the rebooted Apes franchise and recently tweeted out the first on set production picture you can check out below. It’s uncertain if that is Andy Serkis as Caesar on the horse, although that would be my best guess at this point. Why the beach though? (more…)
