Kevin Smith likes to refer to the Frank Miller version of Batman from ‘The Dark Knight Returns’ as “Fat Batman.” So I found the image above to be very appropriate when referencing the term “Batman Heavy.” But in the meantime, let’s talk about this teaser trailer. Now that The Avengers have everyone talking, stepchild DC/Warner Bros. understandably wants in on some of that comic book movie chaos. All of a sudden there’s talk about a teaser/trailer starring our ‘World’s Finest.’ One actually appeared at San Diego Comic Con months ago. This one is reportedly starring Batman. In a Superman movie. Which is just ‘Justice League Lite.’ Check out the video, shot bootleg from inside an orgasmic geek’s armit. (more…)
Production continues and while Warner Bros and DC may have blinked in the face of Marvel Studio‘s Captain America III when it comes to a release date, they’ve certainly not stopped working toward the day when two of the world’s greatest heroes meet on the big screen. Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice is currently filming in Detroit and the following scene captured on video gives us a look at Ben Affleck‘s Bruce Wayne in action. (more…)
SDCC ’13: Warner Bros. & Legendary Panel Live Blog – ‘Godzilla’, ‘Seventh Son’, ‘300: Rise of an Empire’, & More!
[Editor’s Note: At this very moment, Manny Lozano, one of our embedded reporters, is getting comfortable in Hall H preparing to live blog the Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures panel in where they’ll be previewing Godzilla, Seventh Son, 300: Rise of an Empire, The LEGO Movie, and Edge of Tomorrow. We’ve already had a taste of Godzilla with Manny’s report from the Godzilla Encounter, and we’ve seen trailers for Seventh Son and The LEGO Movie. We’re not entirely sure just who’ll be appearing on the panel, but I know Manny will let us know the minute things start. For more info on the panel, here’s a link to the official SDCC schedule. Once the panel starts, keep refreshing for updates.]
[UPDATE: This panel has since concluded. Hit the jump to view the original live blog commentary. Thanks for tuning in! Coming soon, the live blog of Lionsgate’s Hall H panel.]
“I think it would be really interesting with the age-old Batman/Superman conflict, because they are two different sides of the same coin and their methods are entirely different. And I think it would actually make for an interesting story as to why, first of all, they were going head to head and how. I think that would make a great story.”
“Who knows, I’m sure there’s all sorts of ideas being thrown around at Warner Bros right now.”
The latest bombshell Justice League movie rumor to hit the internet from El Mayimbe of Latino Review concerns the possibility that Christian Bale might reprise his role as Batman for a team-up with Henry Cavill‘s Man of Steel.
The pieces of this puzzle begin and end with Christopher Nolan. El Mayimbe is reporting that Nolan has been given the reins of everything DC over at Warner Bros. and everything to do with DC comic characters now goes through him, making him the architect of the Warner Bros. DC Comics universe.
I can’t think of anyone more qualified to take over the herculean task that isn’t already tied up with a number of other franchises. Joss Whedon has Marvel, J.J. Abrams has Star Wars and Star Trek, who else has the talent and proven track record to match those two nerdy juggernauts? If you can name one put it in the comments section below because I couldn’t think of anyone that would be a serious second to Nolan. I’d love to see a World’s Finest and a decent Wonder Woman movie before a complete Justice League roster movie.
Check out the video below where El Mayimbe lays out his case to support his beliefs in this round of Justice League rumors.
El Mayimbe also included some thoughts not in the video:
Closing Thoughts that I didn’t include in video:
- If you honestly think that Warners, especially with what they’re up against, aren’t going to move Heaven and Earth to try to make what I mentioned above happen, then you’re insane. They almost have no other choice.
- David Goyer I couldn’t confirm his participation at press time, and it was holding up publishing the scoop. Hence, unconfirmed but my gut tells me most likely true. He is an important part of the equation and works quite well with this team. At the very least, he will most likely come up with a story. He has some other projects as a director he is trying to launch off the ground but like Michael Corleone once said, “Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in
- World’s Finest Again, unconfirmed. But certainly within the realm of possibility. Could we instead get just a team up between these two and then graduate to a Justice League movie? Anything is possible folks.
- Debunkers Our track record with DC is impeccable. We broke Routh/Superman, Ledger/The Joker, the opening of The Dark Knight, etc., just to name a few. Remember, when we first broke that Goyer & Nolan were involved with Man Of Steel and Thomas Tull made a call over here to debunk us? So, um, how did that end up turning out? False? 🙂
What do you think? Will we be getting some official announcements once the ink has dried on Nolan’s contract? The whole thing makes a lot of sense and I’m sure we’ll find out one way or another. I just hope they don’t rush through and screw up what could be an epic team up.
The costumes of DC Comics‘ New 52 caused quite an uproar among fans. Do you remember all the outrage over Wonder Woman putting on pants!? Pretty much across the board the new designs were panned, many saying the whole universe took a trip back to the 90s with these dated looking costumes.
Well, yesterday they revealed new costumes for the heroes of Earth-2; specifically Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman on the cover of Earth Two #1, and Power Girl and Huntress on the cover of World’s Finest #1. I’ll warn you, these might be difficult to look upon. I found elements to be quite disturbing.
