Do you remember the old board game Candyland … you know, the one with gum drop mountains and chocolate swamps?
It seems like Hollywood does, as they are turning it into a movie!
But not just any movie, apparently this movie is going to be more similar to Lord of the Rings than Sesame Street.
The writers of Kung Fu Panda 2, Jonathan Aibel and Glenn Berger, are writing the screenplay based on the popular kid’s game. Berger spoke to Entertainment Weekly and said:
We envision it as Lord of The Rings, but set in a world of candy. We don’t see it as a movie based on a board game although it has characters from that world and takes the idea of people finding themselves in a world that happens to be made entirely of candy where there are huge battles going on. We are going for real comedy, real action, and real emotions at stake.
Does anyone else think that this has reached a whole new level of stupidity? I mean, turning this into an animated kid’s movie is one thing, but a live-action Lord of the Rings-esque event?
If they can pull it off, and make characters with such names as Princess Frostine and Lord Licorice credible, I think they will deserve some kind of award. Don’t you think?
