Briefly: The sequel to the X-Men spinoff The Wolverine is happening later than previously thought. Actually, Fox says it never officially has given a start date for production. The studio was initially considering a Fall 2011 start date for the film directed by James Mangold based on a script by Christopher McQuarrie. Now they are planning a Spring 2012 start date.

The screenplay mostly takes place in Japan. But studio insiders tell Deadline “it’s hard finding just where to shoot in Japan these days because of weather-related considerations”. Ahem, weather? I think it’s a little more than that. Who the hell would want to take the risk of sticking around radioactive Japan, with its contaminated food, water, and air for what could be weeks or months?!

Supposedly the location might switch to Canada or become a combination of the two countries. The start date will also wait until after Hugh Jackman finishes making Les Miserables.

Personally, I’m still waiting for them to push the start date to never.
