There are a couple of fairy tale based television shows making their way to the small screen. ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” and NBC’s “Grimm” are both set to fight it out for our attention. Once Upon a Time is more of a “Lost” fairy tales drama while NBC’s “Grimm” is a supernatural fairytale cop show.
ABC recently released the first nine minutes of “Once Upon a Time.” The series is set to premiere Sunday at 8PM EST, and stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White and Jennifer Morrison as her unknowing daughter. The similarities to Bill Willingham’s comic series “Fables” is hard to forget for those of us that know and love that comic book series.
“Once Upon a Time” features familiar characters including Snow White and the seven dwarfs, Prince Charming, Jiminy Cricket, and Rumpelstiltskin. Here’s a bit of synopsis for the new series:
The stories hold a key to the mystery that will draw a bail bonds collector and the son that she gave up for adoption 10 years earlier to a New England town called Storybrooke, Maine. This town is actually a parallel world in which fairy tale characters look like normal people and don’t remember their true identities or anything about their true lives.
This NerdBastard is going to give both a shot, but is really looking forward to the “Powers” series.
