Michael Shannon on Zod’s New Duds

The news stream from  Zack Snyder‘s The Man of Steel seems to be slowly picking up the pace. Recently Entertainment Weekly chatted with Michael Shannon about his costumes for General Zod:

EW: So you’re not saying “Kneel before Zod” while wearing parachute pants?

MS: [Laughs] Yeah, the flowy costumes don’t really… that’s not the style nowadays. Everything’s skintight.

EW: Do you have a costume? A Krypton outfit?

MS: There’s two different modes. There’s something that I have to wear a motion-capture suit for, because if I actually wore it, I wouldn’t be able to move. It’s a very big…thing. I actually don’t know what it’s going to look like, I just know that it’s very cumbersome. There’s another thing that I wear that’s an actual costume. It’s pretty simple. There’s no paisley or anything.

EW: You don’t get to wear a flowing cape or anything like that?

MS: I don’t know. That’s the thing about these movies. I could have an elephant head.

Ok, so we can make a well educated guess on the real world costume, safe to assume it is the black Krypton underwear we’ve already seen him sporting. Now there will be something done in mocap as well?

WILD SPECULATION TIME! What could it be?

A Kryptonian battle suit perhaps?

Maybe something similar to the Russian Zod?

Whatever the hell this spikey mess is?

Or will it be something we’ve never seen before? Feel free to fire off your thoughts in the comments below.

Man of Steel is currently filming in Vancouver and is set to hit the big screen on June 14th, 2013.
