With the release of Captain America: The Winter Soldier on Blu-ray and DVD today, many fans of  Marvel Studios’ Avengers family of films are looking ahead to the future and are curious as to what  will be the focus of Captain America 3, set for a 2016 release. While we were originally promised an announcement at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con of the film’s subtitle, which might have provided an  indication of what the film’s storyline might be, the convention came and went with no clues to Cap’s future. However, the official Twitter page for Captain America  announced yesterday that a big announcement in honor of today’s Winter Soldier release. Could this be the Captain America 3 subtitle?

Captain America 3 co-director Anthony Russo admitted to Collider.com, back in August that “the  business end of the issue” sometimes stymies announcements such as the one promised at Comic-Con,  but that “[they’re] hoping in a month or so at the most” to reveal the film’s subtitle.

Russo is no stranger to how business can entangle the workings of creating entertainment. He and his  brother Joe have directed several episodes of Community, which has had its share of business-related  obstacles. The duo will direct an episode of the series’ sixth season when it hits Yahoo! Screen toward the end of the year. (Note: This isn’t related to Captain America 3, I realize, but I am bursting with excitement as we edge closer to Community’s season premiere. Sorry, just had to throw that out there.)

As we have seen with countless other films, a film’s subtitle can give a strong inkling as to what the plot  of that film will be. Joss Whedon’s upcoming The Avengers: Age of Ultron lets you know right in the title that Ultron will be The Big Bad. And Captain America: The Winter Soldier let folks familiar with the comic  books know that Cap’s seemingly-dead partner would return as the Winter Soldier in the movie. What  will the subtitle for the third Cap film tip us off to in terms of the film’s story? What would you like to  see in a new Cap movie?

We will keep you posted here at Nerd Bastards with further developments once the big Captain

America-related announcement is made today.
