Director Bryan Singer Instagramed some new concept art for X-Men: Apocalypse that may mean the introduction of a new character to the X-Men movie franchise. Wait… it’s not what you think, it isn’t that little man to the right. It’s that hulking big spaceship he is standing next to. You might be asking yourself how a spaceship might be a character in the new movie and not just a new piece of set. Well, click through and we’ll tell you.

Here’s the official Instagram that Singer sent out into the Internet wild:

So what most people are speculating is that the ship is Apocalypse’s. The Ship is Alien technology (Celestrials) that a young En Sabah Nur (Apocalypse) found back in the past and uses to take revenge on his enemies. The ship is controlled by an A.I. system (Artificial Intelligence) which Apocalypse enslaves to his will. That A.I. system would be the new character introduced that everyone ends up calling “Ship”. Ship also plays a part in Cable’s story line and the two eventually team up to take down future Apocalypse. Ship also teamed up with X-Factor and other mutant groups like the New Mutants.

How this might tie together in the X-Men movie franchise is still kinda murky at best. It would be a good bridge and introduction to other X-Men movies that include Cable or X-Factor. What do you think? Will Singer use this to introduce Ship, or will they just make it an Alien bit of tech that Apocalypse uses?
