Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out on DVD and Blu-ray later this week, and while we all jauntily marched to the theater back in May to watch it, we eagerly anticipate the home video of release of the film to get a look at those deleted scenes. Everyone’s been pretty upfront that the original cut of Ultron was much longer, and watching the movie it’s easy to note that it’s missing a few things that were cut for brevity. So now we’ll be able to check out what was cut out, and one of those scenes in question is the one included below.
The cave. Remember your failure at the cave. Wait, wrong movie. Okay, so remember the scene in Age of Ultron when Thor (Chris Hemsworth) ditches the team and goes to the mysterious Norn cave to learn the full extent of the threat – present and future – against the Avengers? Well, it kind of cut to the chase and didn’t show what went on in the Norn cave when Thor and Dr. Selvig (Stellan Skarsgård) arrived there, Thor just dropped the knowledge he gleamed from the trip on the team just before the big fight. Well now…
Well, at least it let Hemsworth have the chance to play possessed, while getting wet with his shirt off. The scene doesn’t add much, including the question about who the lady in the cave was that had everyone parsing their Guide to the Marvel Universe after seeing her in the trailer earlier this year, but it does spell out all the more clearly the nature of the Minds Gem, and the gathering threat of the Infinity Stones. So in that way, at least, it’s a deleted scene worth seeing.
Avengers: Age of Ultron is out on Blu-ray and DVD this Friday. You can, however, buy in on digital right this moment.
