It looks like the guys at Honest Trailers is at it again. Their recent honest trailers include The Revenant, the original Superman movie, as well as the original Batman movie. And this time they’ve decided to take on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In this trailer, they hit the nail on the head and then some. They even manage to make fun of themselves by bringing back an old voice from the past to really drive their point across. Check it out after the jump.
Here it is in all it’s glory. The honest trailer for The Force Awakens:
The main point it drives across is the fact the movie does feel like an exact replica of the original Star Wars movie. But let’s not forget that this is supposed to be almost a reintroduction for a new generation of fans. It’s expected that there would be familiar elements, but the movie does introduce new ones as well as new questions in the story line. The next installments will hopefully move on from the original trilogy and really begin the new drama.
Another great point the trailer highlights is how “perfect” the character of Rey is. It even goes as far as calling her the “MaRey Sue” – a term used for a fictional female character with little to no abilities but is somehow almost perfect in a way and manages to save the day. Some of the other highlights of the honest trailer include what everyone thinks of Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma.
The best moment of the trailer comes when they begin to name the cast of the film. Some the characters include, “Emporer Voldemort,” “R2D2-2,” “The Easiest Money Mark Hamill Ever Made,” and the best one – “Butthole Eyes” which obviously alludes to Maz Kanata.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now out on Blu-ray.
