This past weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opened in theatres everywhere, and for all you Marvel zombies for whom seeing it another six or seven times isn’t enough of an MCU fix for you then good news, the next Marvel Cinematic Universe effort is only a couple of months away. Spider-Man: Homecoming will be a decidedly more down-to-Earth offering, sandwiched between the cosmic efforts of Guardians and Thor: Ragnarok, and in a new scene played during last night’s MTV Movie Awards you’ll see why it’s not always easy being your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man, especially when friends pop by.
In the clip, we see Peter Parker (Tom Holland) return from a night of Spider-Maning, carefully entering the apartment he shares with Aunt May (Marissa Tomei), and cautiously crawling across the ceiling to shut his bedroom door, before landing on the floor and taking off his mask to find… his good friend Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon) had been there all along and has seen the whole thing. So much for that secret identity. The clip gives you a good idea of some of that superhero-meets-John Hughes flavour that has been so often discussed in relation to this project, so why don’t you check out the clip for yourself below.
R.I.P.” Spider-Man’s LEGO Death Star. Perhaps Peter should start a “Don’t come to my house without texting first” policy, or maybe he will just threaten Ned with the Patriot Act or something since he is, “basically”, an Avenger. We’ll see what Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has to say about that, because you already have an appointment to see Spider-Man: Homecoming on July 7.
