There have been 10 various X-Men movies released so far, and it’s safe to say that we’ve only scratched the surface in terms of the number of teammates and mutant characters to appear in the movie series so far. To wit, with X-Men: Dark Phoenix now confirmed to be in development, we will start hearing about all the various new characters that will take part, and there’s one in particular that will make some X-Men fans very happy. Let’s just say that if you weren’t Dazzled by the lack of a certain X-Men character in the 80s-based Apocalypse, then you’ve got another reason to look forward to Dark Phoenix

According to Entertainment Weekly, Allison Blaire, AKA: Dazzler, will be appearing in Dark Phoenix. Dazzler, who was introduced in Uncanny X-Men #130, is a singer and musician that uses her mutant ability to generate light blasts to help her career by putting on elaborate stage shows. Originally, Dazzler was conceived as a cross-promotion effort between Marvel and Casablanca Records to make a multimedia superstar in the vain of KISS, who also had their own comic book at the time. Casablanca never held up their end to find a real life Dazzler, but the character’s first appearance was in the second issue of the classic “Dark Phoenix Saga“, so to introduce her now certainly makes sense in adapting the story.

There’s no word on who might be playing Dazzler, but it probably won’t be Taylor Swift as rumoured during the production of Apocalypse. Interestingly, there was a scene in Apocalypse where Cyclops and Jean Grey are seen perusing Allison Blaire records in the mall, but that one ended up on the cutting room floor. Dazzler is the second new character to be added for Dark Phoenix after Jessica Chastain who’s rumoured to be playing the Shi’ar empress Lilandra. James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan, and Kodi Smit-McPhee are all expected to return.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix will be in theatres everywhere on November 2, 2018.
