With the insanity of Comic Con in our rear-view mirrors, it’s back to business as usual in the geek news reporting world. This bit comes from last weekend’s panel headed by Marvel Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada. Tagging along were writers Mark Waid and Dan Slott, all fielding questions concerning Daredevil’s 50th Anniversary. Eventually the grilling leaned toward what they and Netflix were planning to do with the upcoming 13-episode television series. Now, we’ve all heard the news about Double-D taking on a “gritty” feel with a 70’s New York City flair. But there was never any mention of when the show was expected to air. Up until now, anyway.

Mark your calendars, True Believers! Slated for May of 2015, Netflix is expected to air all 13 episodes of its new Marvel/Disney venture. The show will no doubt show some version of Matt Murdock’s origin story and quickly grow up to feature one scary sumbitch of a Kingpin for him to not fear.

I love Netflix. They have changed the face of television with their own style of instant gratification. Sure, you gotta wait for the damn show to actually get posted on their streaming site, and in this case, wait for an air date. But once it’s there, you can just overdose in the most unhealthy manner possible. So when I say “I love Netflix,” I guess what I’m saying is, I’m really into my TV drug dealer. And there’s no drug better than this. I collected comics my entire childhood but I don’t have the drive for it anymore. Seeing these movies and TV shows get done well are my new “comics.” Awesome.

The new Daredevil series is part of a foursome to be produced exclusively for Netflix. Along with the Man Without Fear, we’ll see 13-episode projects for Jessica Jones, Power Man, and Iron Fist, not necessarily in that order.

dd band

Charlie Cox will play Murdock and Deborah Ann Woll co-stars as his love interest Karen Page. Vincent D’Onofrio will play Wilson Fisk and Elden Henson and Rosario Dawson co- star.
