Meanwhile, from the movies-no-one-asked-for file comes new comments from actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in regards to the latest attempt to reboot a franchise, Terminator: Genesis. The movie, which is slated to begin shooting sometime late next month under the direction of Alan Taylor, has apparently got the man who the first Terminator made a star very excited about the opportunity, and why not, because he probably made a bundle for pledging to return to the franchise even before a single draft of screenplay had been written. Should we take Arnold’s comments to the bank, or will he be one of the few to cash a check on this? Read on…

In an interview with a website called The Arnold Fans, here’s what Schwarzenegger had to say about what he’s read about the film so far:

“We start filming in the middle or in the end of April and it will be a four or four-and-a-half month long shoot. We will be filming it in New Orleans with some of it in San Francisco and maybe a little of it in LA but most of it will be done in New Orleans. I’m really looking forward to that because as you know, the last time when they did the Terminator, it was when I was Governor and so I couldn’t be in that movie but now I’m back again and they are very excited about having me in the film…..The script is fantastic so I’m really looking forward to this film.”

Hm, yes, harmless platitudes that tell us nothing about what the damn thing will look like. Obviously, I don’t expect Schwarzenegger to come out and say that he’s anything less that excited about the film, much less something inflammatory like “I have grave concerns about the direction of the script,” but as this is the third time Hollywood’s tried rebooting the Terminator franchise, I think we’ll all reserve judgment till the actual movie comes out.

Terminator: Genesis starring Jai Courtney as Kyle Reese, Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor, Jason Clarke as John Connor and Schwarzenegger is a yet-to-be-disclosed role, will be in theaters on July 1, 2015.
