Legends 13.5

Things are heating up in this episode of the CW series DC’s Legends of Tomorrow.  With only three episodes left until the season one finale, the stage is being set for whatever inevitable cliffhanger is in store.  If you, like many, have been enjoying the last few Vandal Savage-free episodes, unfortunately the reprieve ends here.  The show’s (or at least, this season’s) big bad is back, and with a vengeance.  The Legends have traveled to London in 2166, a mere 3 days before Savage kills Rip’s wife and son, with the hopes of giving it one last go at stopping the evil mastermind.  There are some twists and turns and several surprises in this episode.  Some new faces, some old ones, some flashbacks.  And of course an epic fight scene or two.  All standard fare for a fun episode.  Interested?  Want to read more?  Hop on board!  BUT, beware of SPOILERS.  (more…)

Legends 12.2

If last week’s episode of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow didn’t make a fan and believer of you, then this is obviously not the show for you.  That’s ok, because there are plenty of those who are already on board with the CW’s latest superhero serial.  It’s done well enough that the network has officially ordered a second season.  Of course, that could be because it would be messier to cancel it at this point, when so many well-loved characters from The Flash and Arrow are bound up in the show.  But either way, it’ll be interesting to see where the series will go in its second round.

Last week, we journeyed to the Old West and met Jonah Hex, a fan favorite in the DCverse.  This week, the Legends are on the run from the latest weapon of the Time Masters, a ruthless bounty hunter known as The Pilgrim.  She is out to kill the Legends before they joined forces, at various points in the timeline.  Can they save their younger selves in time?  Read on to find out, but only if you’re ok with SPOILERS.  You’ve been warned.  (more…)

Ok, folks, it’s been almost a year, and the wait has been brutal.  But there are only 5 more days!  After dashed hopes of holding Winds of Winter in our hands, Game of Thrones fans can finally have the next best thing: Season 6 of the HBO show.  It’s going to go where not even we diehard readers have gone before–we’ll all be as a blind as Arya is now.  And it’s kind of great!  Oh, the anticipation.  If the show is half as enticing as the latest trailer, fans should be pleased.  This new trailer, the last one before the season 6 premiere, promises death, war, romance, and more of Melisandre’s boobs.   (more…)

Legends 11.7

This is the episode many of the comicbook fans have been waiting for, the introduction of Jonah Hex to the Arrowverse.  As each episode of the CW’s new show, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow gets a little better than the last, hopefully the fan base becomes a bit a larger.  It would be a shame to lose this show before we see what it can do.  If this episode is anything to judge by, it seems it can do quite a bit.  This week sees the Legends in the Old West circa 1871, in a town called Salvation, which is being overrun by a group of bandits called the Stillwater Gang.  What secrets and mysteries will light be shed on this time?  Can the Legends unite with Jonah Hex and save the day?  Will they be able to formulate a plan to stop Vandal Savage before the time bounty hunters find them?  Read on to find out.  But, beware of spoilers! (more…)

Michael Keaton is no stranger to donning a cape and a mask; he’s done it three times so far, if you count both of his stints as the Caped Crusader.  Usually, though, he is the hero of the story, albeit a dark one.  In Birdman, 1989’s Batman, and Batman Returns, Keaton has played a borderline anti-hero.  In fact, to many he IS Batman.  This time, the former Batman and Birdman actor will be crossing that line in the sand and playing the villain, for a Marvel film nonetheless.  At least, that’s the what the rumors are saying.  (more…)

Legends 10.3

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, like most new shows, had a shaky start.  While the pilot was a little on the laughable side, most fans were willing to give it a few more episodes to develop its tone and themes and characters.  When that hadn’t happened by the third or fourth episode, several jumped ship.  That makes sense, since Arrow has been a bit weaker this season, why put your trust in any new ship on the Arrowverse fleet?  But it seems those fans deserted too soon, because Legends has finally found its footing and keeps getting better and better.  This episode, “Progeny” is arguably the best yet.  So if you haven’t been watching, whether because you gave up, or were just waiting for confirmation of quality before even starting, now is the time to start.  Go get caught up!  It actually is worth it.

In this episode, we get a look at the various progeny (hence the title) of some of the Legends, and even big bad Savage himself, in a way.  The effect of parenting, or the lack thereof, on one’s children is discussed, as well as how far a mother or father would go to save their child.  Can’t really say more without giving it all away, but if you’re in the spoilery mood, read on!  (more…)

Legends 15

Have you gotten hooked on the latest vehicle in the CW’s Arrowverse?  It got off to a rocky start, sure, but is definitely starting to make up for the cringes and uncomfortable that accompanied the first few episodes.  Now, after a short two week hiatus, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is back for its ninth episode.  The last episode saw the gang getting separated into two groups as some were left behind in Harmony Falls, Oregon circa 1958 when the others were set upon by the time bounty hunter Kronos.  Lots of twists and turns face both sects of the team in this chapter, with some major revelations and realizations in store for everyone involved.  It’s never a dull moment amid the times hip Waverider, or its jump ship, for that matter.

Interested?  Read on for more!  But beware of spoilers. (more…)

Kingsman 2, the sequel to the 2014 sleeper hit, has been making headlines with the A-list ladies who have come aboard.  Halle Berry has been cast in what is rumored to be the role of the head of the CIA, while Julianne Moore has been cast as the villain, Poppy.  But now we finally have name for the project, as well as some killer concept art, courtesy of Empire Magazine.  While the original was surprisingly good and surpassed the expectations of many, the sequel has a lot to live up to.  If the concept art is anything to judge by, though, the movie might just stand up to the test. hidden temple

Nickelodeon announced a few weeks ago that the popular 90s television show, Legends of the Hidden Temple would be revived as a tv movie, and 90s kids were hit with a huge wave of nostalgia.  They fondly remembered weekday afternoons watching their peers compete for five minutes of fame and a “fabulous” prize or two.  The children were paired up and ruthlessly fought to be the victors.  Think Hunger Games, but without the death.  Everyone had their favorite team: Blue Barracudas, perhaps, or maybe Silver Snakes.  Rarely did your team win, but when they did, oh it was great.  But Nick has released some more good news, and now there is even more reason to celebrate.   (more…)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull 2008

There have been some mixed reactions regarding the recent news that Disney and Lucasfilms are reviving the Indiana Jones franchise that was previously presumed dead after the catastrophe that was Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.  While some are thrilled to have the chance for the franchise to be redeemed, others have their reservations.  Harrison Ford has been confirmed to star, and his age is, well, advanced.  How will they handle that?  He’ll be 77 when the Indiana Jones 5 hits theaters on July 19, 2019.  He might throw out his back cracking that whip!  There are also rumors that Chris Pratt is in talks to replace Ford and that he will be introduced in the upcoming film.  Those two strong characters could be too much for one movie.  If those concerns weren’t enough, add this one into the mix.
