Warner Bros has been trying to make a live action adaptation of Akira for over a decade, with the film almost coming close a few times. But it’s development hell that’s got this one stuck, directors keep dropping out, disputes over budget and contracts, nothing can go right. There have been some rumors floating around of a couple directors who Warner Bros is considering, Daniel Espinosa (Life) and David Sandberg (Lights Out) among them. But Tracking Board recently shared that a new name has just reached the top of Warner Bros list, another horror director, Jordan Peele. (more…)
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is just over a month away. James Gunn in an interview earlier this month talked about the future of the franchise, simply stating that, yeah, Marvel will most likely want to do another one of these. This is one of their most successful franchises. Well, this news got people stoked, and got them speculating about where the franchise could go and when it will be released. Whoa, wait a minute…James Gunn saw something off here. Why are they talking about the third movie when the second one hasn’t even come out yet??? (more…)
We’re just over a month away from the “final” Pirates of the Caribbean movie, or at least that’s what we’re told it’s going to be. Many fans are still speculative that this film is actually a set up for a future franchise, although Disney has not yet confirmed this. They may be keeping that possibility open, depending on how well this film does. This trailer is similar to the last one that was released and doesn’t give us much new information. Disney seems to be keeping a lot of the plot secretive. Why? Either it’s not good and they’re trying to hide it or it is good and they don’t want to ruin it. Remain speculative. (more…)
Starlord aka Chris Pratt, as those in the Earthly realm know him, is a funny guy. He’s not just funny in the movies, he’s hilarious in real life as well. Fans will remember his mooning incident while working on Parks and Rec as well as his cropping Jennifer Lawrence out of promotional photos for Passengers on their press tour. And any interview he’s ever done. Well, Starlord may have surpassed himself with his most recent facebook post promoting Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2.
The more money a movie makes, the more actors get paid. So it makes sense for actors to promote their films, if for no other reason than to hope that they get a fat paycheck. This can sometimes make it hard to distinguish how true these actor’s opinions about their own work actually is. Woody Harrelson has recently come out and voiced his opinion about the upcoming Han Solo film, and his praise is that he thinks that this film is going to be the best Star Wars film to date. High Praise? Absolutely. Here’s his entire quote: (more…)
Freddy. Jason. Ash. All classic icons of horror. But many might not know that they were all supposed to come together for the greatest mashup the horror genre has ever seen. That’s right, at one point in time, Freddy v Jason v Ash was going to be a movie. There was a clear favorite to win the fight, but not everyone was in agreement. New Line Cinema had some interesting reasons for wanting a different character to win. (more…)
Beauty and the Beast debuted in it’s opening weekend, smashing box office records and sucking in cash, making it unequivocally the most successful of the Disney live action remakes thus far, and it’s only in its first weekend. Disney has quite a few more of these live action remakes planned, and with the money they seem to be making, why would they stop now?
Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the most successful Marvel films ever made, besides the Avengers films themselves, so it comes as no surprise that a sequel was immediately put into the works. Guardians was a surprise to many, it was a lesser known property that kind of came out of left field and took everyone by surprise by how good it was. A lot of how good it was is due to the film’s director, James Gunn, who is also helming the upcoming sequel. It’s just been confirmed that Guardians of the Galaxy 3 is officially happening, which is good news for fans of the franchise. But Gunn has spoken out and said he might not be the one directing the film. (more…)
Ever since Warner Bros. announced a solo Batman film after Batman V. Superman was released, it seems the film’s production has had nothing but trouble. First, Ben Affleck stepped down from directing. A new director was found in Matt Reeves, but now Warner Bros. has announced that the script is apparently being rewritten from scratch. What is going on?? (more…)
Some films should not allowed to be touched by the Hollywood reboot monster. The Matrix is one of these films. It’s a classic, loved by millions (well, the first film anyway). It’s a hugely influential film that changed the sci-fi genre forever. And now there are talks by Warner Brothers about remaking it? How could it possibly be better than the original? It’s like remaking Casablanca. Not that it can’t be done, it shouldn’t be done. But it is being done, or at least talked about. So what do we know? (more…)
