Which classic superhero costume will go first? Get bidding!
Cameron Monaghan, who plays Jerome Valeska in the Gotham series, just posted a photo of himself looking like a ‘certain someone’ on Twitter and the internet can’t stop talking about it. The actor shared an image of himself online looking eerily similar to the Joker, before the photo was deleted only a few hours later. The Joker has yet to appear officially in the series, though fans have been teased by the Joker-like mannerisms of Jerome throughout it, although in a bizarre twist, he was later supposedly killed off. However, his upcoming return to the show has been teased heavily too, but now the big question is: who exactly will he be returning as? (more…)
Mark Wahlberg has frequently been referenced when it comes to rumours about who will play the lead role of Nathan Drake in Sony’s upcoming Uncharted movie. However, in a recent interview with We Got This Covered, the actor claimed that he was in fact ‘not attached’ to the movie, and that if he was, we would ‘know about it’. So, if it’s not going to be Mark Wahlberg playing Nathan Drake, who will be stepping up to claim the role? The mysterious and slow-moving progress of the elusive Uncharted movie continues to taunt us. (more…)
The latest Foot Locker commercial is raising some questions about the potential return of Space Jam to our screens. The new ad showed the return of the Monstars and the Toon Squad, and also featured LA Clippers star Blake Griffin and Chicago Bulls star Jimmy Butler. What does this mean? There have been no official announcements regarding a Space Jam sequel, but the commercial seems to be throwing out some pretty big hints that Space Jam could be coming back in a big way. (more…)
Considering the huge amount of publicity Pokémon has received this year thanks to a certain popular augmented reality game, it’s not really surprising that we’ll be seeing a new Pokémon feature film coming out soon. Legendary Pictures announced in July that they had plans to create the live-action movie Detective Pikachu, with writers Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls) and Nichole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) coming on board to work on its script. It looks like the movie now has a director too, as Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) has also just joined the Detective Pikachu team. (more…)
It’s only been running since 2015, but this year it has received over 450 entries worldwide. It has tempted swarms of amateur, student and professional filmmakers from all over the globe to crawl out of the woodwork in a bid to terrify us, and is curated by some of the scariest minds in horror cinema. The 15 Second Horror Film Challenge is a wonderfully fascinating example of what the darkest, most twisted and creative storytellers can achieve in only, well, 15 seconds. (more…)
Doctor Strange has just broken Marvel’s box office record, having earned a staggering $616 million worldwide (according to Box Office Mojo). It has topped The Incredible Hulk, Captain America: The First Avenger, and Thor, and is now Marvel Cinematic Universe’s highest grossing solo intro film since Iron Man. This is particularly impressive for a film whose main character was not necessarily that well-known before the film was released, unless perhaps you were a studious comic book reader. Marvel and Disney must be pretty happy right now.
They ain’t afraid of no ghosts, but it looks like the makers of the 2016 Ghostbusters movie reboot may be afraid of a sequel. The film’s director Paul Feig admitted in an interview with Den of Geek that a Ghostbusters sequel is currently looking rather unlikely to happen. The movie didn’t exactly do horrendously at the worldwide box office, with figures in the multi-millions, but apparently Sony had expected it to do better, requiring the film to reach a total of $300 million to actually make up for production costs – which it did not do.
After the success of Finding Dory, Pixar seems to be keeping up their big sequel game and will be providing us with Cars 3 next. The teaser trailer for the third movie just aired and it looks… Different. The style of the animation featured in the video is not what you would expect to see from the Cars franchise. The tone of the trailer is also surprisingly dark and serious, and seems a lot duller in its colour. Whether this change of style will prove to be a good thing or a bad thing remains to be seen, but the trailer has certainly peaked our interests. OK, Pixar. We’re listening. (more…)
