Thor: Ragnarok‘s casting thus far has been a treat to the fans, having included newcomer fan favorites like Karl Urban (Lord of the Rings, Dredd, Star Trek Beyond), Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings, The Aviator, Babel), and of course, Jeff Goldblum (Jurassic Park, Independence Day, The Fly); also returning will be Chris Hemsworth (Thor himself, of course), Mark Ruffalo (as Dr. Bruce Banner/The Hulk) and Tom Hiddleston (as beloved villain Loki). Recently, another actor let slip that he spent some time on the set film’s Australian set, and it’s setting up a nice reunion.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow is amping up for it’s second season this autumn, and more information is trickling out to let fans know about what they can expect to see. The show, which was created as a spinoff to both Arrow and The Flash, gives spotlight to superheroes (and, well, supervillains turned super-anti-heroes) who were not the center stage of the previous two shows, including The ATOM (Brandon Routh), Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Heatwave (Dominic Purcell), White Canary (Caity Lotz), Firestorm (Franz DramehVictor Garber), and Hawkgirl (Ciara Renée). They are brought together as a team by Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), as they travel through time fighting evil that threatens the fabric of reality. The concept will be expanded upon in season two, and a few faces familiar to comic fans will be appearing. (more…)

New Trailer for ‘Max Steel’ is Unleashed

max steel

Remember Max Steel? We’ve mentioned it a few times here before; to sum it up, Max Steel is a teenage superhero created for a toy line in 1997. The toys were not unlike G.I. Joe. The product was eventually turned into a short lived animated show in the early 2000s on Kids WB, and then was rebooted in 2013 on Disney XD. The property’s relaunch has had some success here in the United States, but it has apparently boomed in Latin America. Perhaps seeing potential after Hasbro’s own successes at bringing the aforementioned G.I. Joe and Transformers to the big screen, a movie for Max Steel has been in production for some time now. Finally, we’ve officially gotten our first domestic trailer, which is markedly improved from the international trailer that was released not long ago. (more…)

You’ve heard of it whispered in the darkest corners of your high school experience, perhaps images of a defamatory news segments or a dorky cartoon flash through your head. You’ve seen the books, lining that section of your comic book store you never go to, dice of strange and unfamiliar shapes shoved into a free-for-all somewhere near the counter. You had a friend or a cousin who wouldn’t shut up about it, maybe made it sound appealing, but it still felt too weird for you. You remember catching the last quarter of a terrible movie about it on television during a mid-day time filler slot. Now, you’re starting to see it everywhere in your Facebook feed. You watched Vin Diesel play it, you saw Dan Harmon‘s HarmonQuest, and of course, people won’t shut up about the Demogorgon after watching Stranger Things. Now you feel like maybe you want to try out Dungeons and & Dragons, but you have no idea where to begin. Well keep reading, because now you’re going to be taken through how to start playing “D&D”.  (more…)

here comes spider gwen

Ultimate Spider-Man, a cartoon series on Disney XD starring our favorite web-slinger, is gearing up to the finale of season four and looks to continue the Spider-Verse plot point that had been a part of the third season. The original Spider-Verse arc in the show was a four episode, multi-dimensional adventure that saw Spider-Man travelling to different versions of his universe, all with their own Spider-Man, and teaming up with them. Some fan favorites he met along the way included Miles Morales, Spider-Man 2099, Spider-Man Noir, and Spider-Girl. This time around, another female wall-crawler is joining the fray who made her initial appearance in the original comic version of the story-line. (more…)

zendaya and dan slott

When it was revealed yesterday that Zendaya‘s role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming may in fact be as Peter’s number one gal, Mary Jane Watson, people on the internet reacted with wildly different opinions; some of them, of course, were unfortunately similar to the reactions some had to John Boyega in The Force Awakens. Regardless of your own personal opinion, people are bound to have different views—this includes people from the comics industry, as one might expect. One of them has taken to Twitter to lend his opinion on the matter.  (more…)

king conan

Announced back in 2012, after Arnold Schwarzenegger finished his run as Governor of California, was The Legend of Conan; the film was meant to follow up the 1982 film Conan the Barbarian (directed by John Milius) and largely ignore Conan the Destroyer and the 2011 reboot. While Arnold has gone on to revitalize his film career by appearing in numerous movies in the four years since, Legend was only reconfirmed, claiming production would begin in the fall of 2015. That didn’t happen; however, the film certainly is still in the works, and one of the writers went on to confirm some details. (more…)

fantastic-beasts 2

As the Olympics continue into their second half this week, a surprise TV spot dropped in the form of a Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them trailer. The film has been the driving force behind a (thus far successful) public interest revival of JK Rowling‘s Wizard World, made famous by the Harry Potter series of novels. Fantastic Beasts will cap off a lead up that included theme park attractions, an enormous Pottermore update, and a play/book release combo. If you would like to check out the trailer, continue after the jump. (more…)

The Flash Adds Another Rogue to Season 3

mirror master covers

While the Flash’s Rogue Gallery (or villain lineup) in comics has never been as famous as Superman’s or Batman’s, Flash does have his own villain team in The Rogues; assembled and led by Captain Cold, it consisting of Heat Wave, Weather Wizard, the Trickster, Pied Piper, the Top, Captain Boomerang, and Mirror Master. If you’ve been watching The Flash television series, you know that many of these characters have popped up already (Captain Boomerang even getting involved in a minor crossover with Arrow), and now it looks like another ‘rogue’ is entering the fray for the show’s third season.  (more…)

rebels season 3 1

Star Wars Rebels has become a fan favorite show among the legion of Star Wars fans. The show largely filled the gap that was left after the cancellation of Star Wars: The Clone Wars (which was rushed off air so quickly the final season became a Netflix exclusive). The show is comprised of largely the same team, following the same art style who have actually managed to close a few plot threads from the other show—however, while Clone Wars followed young Jedi padawan Ahsoka Tano and her master Anakin Skywalker between the Episode II and III films, the new series is set years later, showing the formation of the early Rebel alliance pre-Episode IV. The show has been successful enough that it is already gearing up for the third season.
