To be filed under things nobody ever wanted/people actively wished wouldn’t happen: a new Tomb Raider film is, in fact, on its way to the big screen.
As many will recall, this will be Lara Croft’s first cinematic outing since Angelina Jolie stumbled her way through 2001’s Tomb Raider and its almost-so-bad-it’s-good sequel, Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life. Though the majority of the world’s current cinematic fervor seems to be directed at the latest iteration of Star Wars (the stunning new trailer didn’t hurt) comic lovers are rejoicing thanks to a new crop of photos and a few juicy plot points from the beginning of Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film, slated to release in 2016, marks the start of DC Comics’ push to compete with the all-encompassing Marvel Cinematic Universe. (more…)
